How did this happen! It’s the first of March already and it’s still summer! The time has gone by so fast, I can’t believe it’s time to start thinking about going home. Not yet! Yesterday I moved from Orange City to Silver River State Park in Ocala. Moving day is always busy, but it’s not hectic anymore. I have settled into a routine of packing up, moving and reestablishing camp in a very short time and minimal effort. I have gotten into the habit of putting away everything when I’m finished with it and I don’t have clutter around inside which leads me to a more peaceful feeling and less to deal with when moving time comes. Blue Springs was a beautiful park with the spring and the benefits that brings. The manatees come into the ... read more

Made it though the storm. Just a quick note to let all know that I made it through the storms yesterday. It was rather warm and a cold front went through bringing with it winds, rain and a tornado warning. Kat got a message on her phone that said a tornado was 6 min from where we were and to take cover. I didn’t see any green clouds or hail but a freight train did go through about that time but I heard the whistle and knew it was the train. It just poured rain and was a little windy. I went on a river boat cruise today and I am busy editing the pictures, some of which I hope are really good. I’ll post them later. Bye for now.... read more

The One about Being Under a Tornado Watch. As I was proofreading this, I realized how wordy I was today. There’s some good stuff, but it’s buried in the words. Sorry. I tried to cut it down; it’s long like the tornado watch was today. Feel my pain. Since I took a 1.5 hour nap yesterday afternoon, it was not easy falling asleep last night. I was still awake at 12:30 and finally came to the realization that I don’t like any of the late night network TV shows. I watched Kimmel last night due to the promos I saw for his Oscar coverage and it looked like it was going to be funny. It wasn’t to me. I did like the segment on 101 utterings of AMAZING by the stars. I do not find Guillermo ... read more

One day seems to have run into another and I can’t believe how fast time is flying by. On Friday I had my hair done which is a big deal for me to trust someone with my color but I found a great salon and the stylist’s name was Maribella, said with a real sing song. She was from the Dominican Republic and lived for 15 years in Queens and has been in FL for over 16 so I felt she had experience enough to do a good job. She did. I was very pleased and ended up having a pedicure too. Something was not right with my van when I drove it last I noticed some vibration or something I couldn’t put my finger on. So I made arrangements to have an oil change at ... read more

The One About the Manatees Breaking camp on Sunday was bittersweet for me. I really had a good time at TT Orlando, Kathy and I did a lot of fun stuff the second week without Ginnie, but I missed her and those boys a lot, too. I do enjoy talking to people, and met some great ones who gave me good stories to write about and good memories. I will return in 2014. It is easy to unhook everything from Moya, much easier than Spirit. The hardest parts are packing up the bike and putting it in the ‘basement’ storage, and folding my rug. I used my bike a lot this segment. I rode it twice every day, one ride with me and Winston, and one ride just for me. This campground is reasonably flat and ... read more

A week since our last blog. Shame on me. Kerry enjoyed his last softball game at Boot Key on Tuesday morning. Then after goodbyes to our Marathon friends, it was back north to Miami Springs. We stayed with my mom until Saturday morning; she and I enjoyed some great Skip-Bo games. Friday I did her income tax return, and now that’s done. Thank goodness! Saturday we drove to Lake Worth and set up at John Prince County Park. We went to our niece, Deanna’s, where we had a nice visit with Dee, her brother, Jim, and her daughter Kristen and fiancé, Will. We always have a great time with all of them. Sorry we couldn’t make it to Will’s polo match on Sunday afternoon. Maybe next trip. On Sunday we met my childhood friend, Carol Immerfall-Fralick, ... read more

Wednesday January 18, 2012 Warm enough last night to sleep without any type of heater! I woke up at 4:30, rolled over, went back to sleep to have Winston wake me up at 7:30. I harnessed him outside while I made my bed and got dressed, and we were on the road to see the Manatees before 8, no coffee for me, no food for him. I walked downhill to the spring area. I was the ONLY PERSON there!!!! We walked the boardwalk all along the water’s edge and was pleasantly surprised to see so many manatees near the edge. Lots of pictures herein. It was very peaceful to just stand there and watch them gently move along. The closest viewing area is the floating dock used for swimming when the manatees are not around, but ... read more

Tuesday January 17, 2012 Blue Springs State Park Orange City FL There are a total of 12 pictures in this entry. I cannot see them all, I hope you can. Not so cold last night. I turned my electric heater on but it cycled rarely. Winston slept like a dog. Oh the luxuries of a shower in my own rig with plenty of hot water, albeit not a lot of pressure, but hot! I gave Winston some Pet Eze and was on my way to my boat ride. The boat dock was not where I thought it was, and a 10 minute additional walk was added to my already 15 minute walk, but I made it in plenty of time. St Johns River Cruises provides nature, guided kayak and hiking adventures. The boat (picture Native II ... read more

Monday January 16, 2012 Webster Flea Market to Blue Springs State Park, Orange City, FL Despite my problems earlier last evening, I slept like a rock. Since I had no electricity I had no electric heater to keep me warm. I didn’t want to leave my furnace on all night long, so I was really boondocking. Inside and outside temp this morning was 47. I decided to screw it and turned on the generator and turned on the heat and made coffee. No alarms. Once the sun comes up the rig warms up nicely. But, remember, I was near a flea market that OPENS at 5:30, so the vendors start arriving at 4:30. When they starting making the road hum I rolled over, pulled my head deeper into my night hat (yes, night hat for cold ... read more
