several around laying eggs, seem to be more activity as the full moon approaches. One day seems to have run into another and I can’t believe how fast time is flying by.
On Friday I had my hair done which is a big deal for me to trust someone with my color but I found a great salon and the stylist’s name was Maribella, said with a real sing song.
She was from the Dominican Republic and lived for 15 years in Queens and has been in FL for over 16 so I felt she had experience enough to do a good job. She did. I was very pleased and ended up having a pedicure too.
Something was not right with my van when I drove it last I noticed some vibration or something I couldn’t put my finger on. So I made arrangements to have an oil change at a local car repair place for Sat.
The service engine light was on when I got there and after a diagnostic test it was determined that # 7 cylinder was not working. All kinds of things ran through my head including am I ruining my engine towing. It turned out to be 2 ignition coils that were not working and the

note the red on the tree below him, red lichen. plugs needed replacement. So after 3 ½ hours and several parts later Pennelope was as good as new and off we went. Kat came and picked me up in my car while the work was being done and I went back to her house to wait. She was giving her dog Winston a bath so I thought since it was so hot, good idea for Oscar too. He seemed to actually enjoy the experience and was clean and shiny.
I spent the rest of the day packing up stuff and repacking the car because Sunday was moving day. Kat and I have been here 2 weeks and I am just amazed that it was that long. We did do a lot of fun things and best of all we were in the warmth and sunshine.
Sunday was not hectic at all. Took Oscar for a walk, packed the last minute stuff, had a great shower and put away the hoses and electric cord.
Hooking up Petunia was easy this time, I’m getting better at it, learning to do on the flat and straight on.
I drove to the new campground, Blue Springs state park in Orange City, FL and got my site and was set up in no time. The campground is beautiful, as are most of the state parks here, but this one has lots of space between sites and jungle too. I can’t see my neighbors which is great for me.
After setting up and relaxing I took the car to explore the rest of the park. There is a spring here called, you guessed it, Blue Spring. It is a first magnitude spring that discharges 104 million gallons of water daily into the St. John River.
This was once the estate of Louis Thursby who built his house on the property in 1872 and is still standing today and open for tours Wed through Sunday. I have to see it Wed as we are leaving here Thursday. One of the biggest attractions here is the large group of manatees that frequent the spring in the winter where the water is a constant 72 degrees. It has been so warm here this winter that most of them have gone back to the river or gulf except for 3 who are hanging on. I hope to see them tomorrow, have to get up early to do that.
I have been really enjoying my camping experience this year getting used to staying in one place for 2 weeks at a time. It is fun to see new places all the time but a pain to pack up and resettle, just a small pain. I have a short attention span so moving is good for me.
I’ll report more tomorrow and include pictures of the spring.
