When you find something good, you have to go back for more. That's the draw of Cherry Pocket. Even though it is situated a thousand miles out in the bayous of the back roads of Lake Wales, it is well worth the trip. This very unique restaurant draws crowds from all over....we just can't figure out how they can all even locate it - it is really out in the boonies.......darn GPS's. Tonight, Sam & Sandy asked us to join them along with their daughter, Sheri, and son-in-law, Marco. Add their children to the fun of being with Sam & Sandy and it just gets "funner". Instead of going to the paw-paw patch and picking up paws-paws and puttin' them in our pockets, our grand group of six (Sam & Sandy, Walt & Diane, Cory & me) headed off to Cherry Pocket. Not for cherries to put in our pockets but to partake of some great food. Cherry Pocket is a old fish camp located back in the swamps of Lake Wales. From twisted and winding roads, you eventually end up at a very quaint and rustic building. There are various backward provincial cabins and RV spots to rent so you can stay awhile if you choose....I'm ready - we're moving! This isn't your typical pay-at-the-gate attraction. In fact, there is no admission charge — it's free! Some might not even call it an attraction, but don't say that to the locals of Lake Wales, Florida. Spook Hill is proudly recognized by the town. The "thrill" of the attraction is your vehicle seems to coast uphill. Is it a weird phenomenon, optical illusion or the unrest of spooky spirits? Well, the legend is that it's spooky spirits.
