Instead of going to the paw-paw patch and picking up paws-paws and puttin' them in our pockets, our grand group of six (Sam & Sandy, Walt & Diane, Cory & me) headed off to Cherry Pocket. Not for cherries to put in our pockets but to partake of some great food. Cherry Pocket is a old fish camp located back in the swamps of Lake Wales. From twisted and winding roads, you eventually end up at a very quaint and rustic building. There are various backward provincial cabins and RV spots to rent so you can stay awhile if you choose....I'm ready - we're moving! The outside of this eating establishment is a definite wonderment but it even gets better. The inside is a piece of work ...a true work of art. Your eyes are jiggling the whole time just trying to take it all in. The walls are covered with an assortment of signs, dollar bills and various trinkets and collectibles....my kind of place. Outside on the deck you are entertained by musicians....a lot of toe tapping going on here. There is a murky fish tank with 2 Oscar fish in it. Instead of you eating fish: they will eat An Old Fish Camp
Anxious to go in you. First come, first served! Cory was in his very "happy place": he had the grouper he enjoys to the hilt. We all had wonderful meals. Life was perfect at Cherry Pocket: great food, festive atmosphere and sharing the experience with terrific friends. "There are Good Ships and Wood Ships but the Best Ships are Friendships". If you ever travel to this area be sure to put Cherry Pocket on your dance card. You will love it!
