It's hiking boot time, again. Walking stick wanderings. Ready? Set...Go! This day and Martin Luther King Day are the two BIG days at the huge Webster Flea Market. Of course, we want to be there.....even though WE are getting out of the business....'member? You aren't though. So just like we did on MLK Day, Lulu has loaded herself into her carry bag and flung it into our shopping cart. What a saving grace my cart has been. Besides holding a ton of goodies, it has a fold-down seat attached to it. When I get weary, I can easily sit on this seat anywhere I want; whenever I want. "Please don't break favorite cart: I don't know what I would do without you." We bought it at a flea market somewhere in Florida. Flea Markets are good!
Sam & Sandy go ahead of us. Sam is on more of mission than we are. We just go to look nowadays ....no early bird get the worm stuff anymore. We got there around 9:00 AM. The place is packed as always. There are so many dealers on these two holidays that some dealers are located across the road in the overflow area. When
we would sell here (and we did), that's where we ended up on the big selling days. It was good cause people figured the dealers with the "fresh" stuff were here rather than on the old field where all the "regulars" are. Lulu wasted not a minute posing with everything and everyone. She has such a fun & delightful time at these markets. So many unique opportunities to show herself off with such a variety of items (and friends). We happily traversed the big fields and the long pavilions.
Across one of the other roads are the big, covered pavilions with the typical, NEW flea market stuff. We bought two new expandable wallets "As Seen on TV". They are nice and work really well. I had one of the aluminum ones but it didn't hold my mega number of plastic cards. Had to use a rubber band around it! Of course, no consideration for reducing my amount of cards. What are you thinking? That would make too much sense.
We left Webster around 1:00 PM. We met up with Sam & Sandy at Bob Evans for a refreshing and rejuvenating lunch. A time to share our review of
the day. Summation: it was a good day! At Webster, the dealers waste no time packing their stuff up. Some starting leaving @ noon. From here, many of them will take their wares to the Deland Flea Market on Wednesday (which we also went to). It's smaller and junkier but makes you think you can find a real steal here amongst the crap. AND we did! Lulu now has a new boyfriend.....well: friend...they are just getting to know one another. Let's not rush things here. We adopted him for 50 cents! What a steal! Actually, the deal was two items for a dollar so Cory grab the St. Pat's hat for future use. Words alone cannot explain nor express what joy has come into Lulu's life. She is dancing and prancing on her tippy toes (in her mind cause she has no feet). We thought about having a "naming party" for our new addition but I think I'm going to go with Louie.....like Louis Armstrong. Lulu & Louie......sounds good to me. We can just call him Lou.....Lulu and Lou! What do you think? He's going to be a "stay-at-home" friend cause there's no way I can haul both of these
Lulu & Dealer sell from afar
Put the money in the basket! big heads around. Lulu can cry and carry on but that's just how it's gonna be. Buck up, Lulu...it's not like he won't be hanging around. He'll just be a house-sitter.
After Webster and Deland, the dealers now have set up their coveted items this weekend at Mt.Dora. It is called Renniger's Mt. Dora's Extravaganza. This is defined as an antique show with more and varied dealers but still many of the same dealers from the two flea markets are there..... Just trying to sell their same flea market stuff as antiques and collectibles now. It's all in the marketing, you know. You get the picture? Sam & Cory have gone to it today. Sandy finds no thrills at these shows and prefers the sun & pool life over them. I'm not as excited anymore like I used to be because we aren't buying and selling. I've never been a good window shopper.
So now you can take a break from the many miles we have traveled together over fields and dale. Whew! My Fitbit was been lighting up like a sqad car flasher. My appetite is very healthy so even though I can document a million steps
Cooler ride!
Lulu in a BMW and a thousand miles tread....the scale is the one that speaks the truth. Rats!
