Golly! I bet you were wondering if I had died or something. Never fear, I’m still here….just lazy and absorbed with streaming various shows on our TV.
Now I’m ready to get back to business. Is that applause I hear? Bring it on folks!
We had a Happy Halloween here at Tropical Palms. Trick or Treat, Smell my Feet! Some of the dedicated campers decorated their sites for the holiday with some fabulous blow-up figures. Us….the best we came up with was Lulu and a simple plastic pumpkin. Lulu didn’t even wear a costume! She usually puts on a fancy type headdress. It wasn’t even enough to take a picture of. Several costumed treat or treaters came by for some candies. Lulu was jealous! Theresa & Grant and Walt & Diane came over with their dinner and we all dined together while waiting for the trick or treaters to arrive. It was a fun evening. Boo say Lu!
Oh, Happy Days! We are slowly moving back out into the world again. Hip-Hip-Hooray. Hello World! This has allowed us to dine out more often. OMG…what a treat! I folded up my apron! A break from our convection oven, Instant
pot, electric casserole, crock pot, electric hot plate….yahoo! God lives! We went to Cracker Barrel with Sam & Sandy. Another journey took the four of us to Bar Harbor. This proved quite a terrific deal for me. Sandy and I ordered their whole Maine lobster. She got hers but I ended up with a lobster roll (which I truly love, too). Cory and my meal took awhile longer than Sam & Sandy’s so Cory “commented” on that and they gave him a coupon for a free lobster roll. Yippee! In the meantime, he took my lobster roll meal back to find out where my steamed lobster was. They said keep the lobster roll and then brought out my steamed lobster (which I took home). Three meals for the price of one!! My fairy godmother was granting me favors this day, that’s for sure….with Cory’s assistance, of course. Oh, yummers!
Cory returned to the doctor again for another follow up visit. They are pleased with his progress. Happy! They gave him the okay to drive the car and go in the pool. Double happy! I had become somewhat comfortable driving in our limited area but now we can branch out
further…..with Cory driving! Hooray! He hasn’t gone in the pool, yet. The weather has taken a turn with a cold spell turning our sweat into goosebumps. Mornings start out in the 50’s and sometimes makes it to the high 70’s. Remember, dear northern friends, this is the south and we respond differently to “cold” weather. Miranda has extended Cory’s physical therapy for another few weeks. He can almost straighten is knee…..just needs a little more exercise. My sessions at the Fitness Center have ended. Now, when he is at PT, I just sit in the hospital lobby and people-watch plus play on my IPad. The hour goes by quickly….lots of stuff to see. Some things I can’t Unsee!
Tropical Palms is still very busy with the development of the new premium RV sites area. There will be 27 sites. The cement pads have been poured. The roads within it are being constructed. They have been very busy working at it so hopefully it can be open in not the too far future. They recently did another major undertaking by getting the park ready to be hooked up to city water rather than its water wells. That should happen soon
also. After they removed the poop pond and the water treatment facility, we went on city sewer…..another very big undertaking. Just the other day, we had some entertainment when another sandcastle cottage was removed from our park. This had the number 122 on it for those who know the layout. It is quite a process to watch how they get these long cottages pulled out from their site, onto the narrow roadway and out of the park. Move aside for this Oversized Load!
We were thrilled to spend this past Tuesday with our granddaughter, Haley, and her roommate, Lauren. We met them at a wonderful restaurant, Harry’s Seafood Grill, in Lakeland. It had a Louisiana Cajun theme. Yummers! Haley and Lauren have moved to Brandon, Florida. Haley is a waitress at Meat Market Steakhouse restaurant in Tampa. Goggle it…..it is quite the restaurant! Lauren is a bartender at the Hat Trick in Tampa. Small world: Cory and I ate there a few years back when visiting the area. Fun place! Doubt that we’ll visit Haley’s restaurant unless we can just get a drink…..everything else is $$$$$. Fortunately, we love the “Po’Folks” restaurant when over in that area…..tasty food with
reasonable prices. Remember, we are senior citizens and look for the early bird specials. We are definitely like Seinfeld’s parents….eating at 4:00 PM.
We hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving. We did! The evening before, the management here at the park put on a Happy Hour with deserts and libations. It was very nice and everyone present appreciated their thoughtful act. We weren’t sure where we would end up for Thanksgiving. Our initial plans were to take our granddaughter to the Golden Corral. Kind of a far cry from the restaurant she works at. But she had to work so we met her earlier in the week as I previously mentioned. Our dear friend, Melba, invited us to join her and her family. We looked forward to that but couldn’t give her a definite answer until the last minute. Not wanting to confuse her plans we our hemming and hawing, we found ourselves joining other Tropical Palm friends at a Thanksgiving dinner here on the grounds. Everyone took a dish to pass while the management provided the turkeys and pies, drinks and paper ware. It certainly topped the “trough” with a multitude of delicious homemade delicacies. Everyone was
happy.
Each day brings more of our friends back to our park. It is so good to see all of their wonderful, happy faces. Some Canadian friends we haven’t seen for over 1 1/2 years (Covid restrictions) so to have them return is a real celebration. Welcome back! This evening, Jon Gibson, came by our RV. What a thrill to see him again! It’s been too long. He won’t be here long this trip but said he’s returning in March so we’ll just hold our breath until he arrives again. We know he would do the same for us…..yeh, right! But that’s okay. We still love him!
And now I’ll bring this to a close. Stay well, stay happy and stay with us! Look at the 16 photos, too.
