This is an exciting blog to write. We have had several events that have made us happy: Happy, Happy, Happy! The biggest and happiest of them all is the birth of our first great-grandchild. Our grandson, Ryan, and Amber had a baby boy on Oct. 4th. His name is Henry Max Wilder Knapp. Of course, he’s the cutest baby ever. A new generation has begun in our family. Whew! Does that mean we are super old now? Nah. Age is just a number......Congratulations and Welcome Baby Henry.
As you might remember, when we left our RV at TP in June, our bedroom slide-out was stuck. It wouldn’t go out. We weren’t very happy but it was better that way than being stuck out since we were leaving the RV parked. We knew we had to face this issue upon our return. Our dear friend, Art, wastes no time in getting a job done. After one of our morning coffees, he and Cory got busy trying to figure out the problem and how to fix it. Art’s expertise in electrical knowledge assured us that it wasn’t an electrical problem. Next task: check the motor. Rats. That meant taking the bed apart
and removing all my stuff stored under it. No simple job but we got it done. Come to find out, that was actually the easy part! Once down to the bare bones, the determined duo were confronted with a wooden cover not meant to be removed.....but the motor was way under it! Geekers. Now what??
“If there's something weird
And it don't look good
Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!”......actually.....they called Tiffin Service (maker of our RV). Oh, hallelujah.....guess who answered the phone? The best Tiffin service guy ever: Brent Bullard. He knows it all! He was the one who came to our RV in Red Bay and fixed our leveler system. He’s excellent. We were happy it was him. He talked them through everything and told them how to get to the motor. Cory’s drill attached to the motor made the slide-out go out! Yippee! But, what now? Turn on the engine and see what happens. With trepidation, I turn on the engine while Cory hits the retract button. Oh, let’s rejoice and be happy! The slide-out is moving in.....and then back out! Exactly what it is supposed to do. Whatever they did, it fixed it
and we were back in business. Oh, happy day! We could sleep again without feeling we were snoozing in a tight, confining closet. Thank you, Art. We owe you big time! We’ve offered him our first born but he refuses. We’ll have to come up with something he can’t refuse! That will make us happy!
Cory called to me to see what was behind our RV. What could it be? He said it would make me happy. An ice cream truck...no. Mickey Mouse....no. Publisher’s Clearing House with a big check.....no. Pat Boone (still my teenage idol)....no. I give up and go look. Well, looky here! It’s Thomas the Turtle. Cory had secured him with noodles and a broom so cars wouldn’t run over it. No turtle soup here! Lulu came racing.....best she could, you know. A new pet.....a new friend. She was so excited and happy. She got right down next to Tom. At first, she couldn’t see any arms or legs on him......someone similar to her.....but then he moved a little.....showing his extremities. That was okay....she accepts her own infirmities. Tom was mean. He gave us the evil eye. We knew he couldn’t join our family. Maintenance was
called to find a home for Thomas the Turtle. Lulu was sad to see him go but as she watched him struggle and attack the brave rescuer, she didn’t want any part of him. He rode to his destination in the back of the maintenance vehicle. He was released into the park’s pond to join the rest of his kind. We were happy to see him and happy to see him go.
While enjoying our morning coffee the other day with Art, we were very happy as a familiar face stopped by: Karen joined us briefly. She has been a good friend to many of us over the years. She has worked in the Tropical Palm’s office for as long as I can remember. She was always so thoughtful and receptive when we needed help with something at the park. Everyone went to Karen. It was wonderful to see her. Hope she comes by again soon - fortunately she doesn’t live far from our site. That makes us happy.
We were happy to see some major landscaping being done at the park. A tree trimming crew was in for a couple weeks and trimmed all the palm trees!
They look like pineapples now. They cut all the dead palm tree fronds away.....even those high in the sky! It was quite a job....cutting and then clearing them away. We were happy watching this major project and their successful results.
There was a gorgeous sunset the other evening that surely made everyone who saw it happy. It was breath-taking. The rich, vibrant colors warmed the cockles of your heart.....And made you feel total happiness for this gift of nature. I’m sure our friends and family back North are happily enjoying their beautiful autumn and the gorgeous colors of the changing leaves.
We are most happy that we have finally settled in for our long winter’s stay. We bought a new canopy cover to shield us from the sweltering sun.....yes, sweltering! We have had some very, very hot days that have sent us inside our RV to wallow around in our air conditioning. A/C is not my favorite but it becomes a necessity when the sweat is dripping off you. Even Lulu becomes a sweatball. She doesn’t use deodorant......no place to use it. She appreciates the new canopy. She is happy being outside. She posed next to our license
plate. Cory bought it as a permanent plate and never has to have it renewed. He will never have to pay for a replacement. If we travel to New Mexico, we will fit right in as New Mexicans. Lulu, too. This really makes us happy.....especially since we are nomads.
??Happy days are here again,
The skies above are clear again
Let us sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again??
We are so happy each one of you are part of this happy, happy group. Have a happy day!
