Time is drawing down. Just a couple more days and we will be bidding adieux to our winter home at Tropical Palms. Wednesday, Sam & Sandy accompanied us while we got our hair cut. Actually, we dropped them off at the Super Target Store so they didn’t have to watch our transformations. You can call me Scalpy and Cory can be called Shorty. Lulu didn’t go in....there is absolutely nothing they can do to help her because of the wicked, homely hair style I gave her years ago. It is what it is. She originally had gorgeous, long flowing locks. Beautiful! It was just way too much for me to handle so I got out my trusty shears and went at them. Yikes! You can see I have never been trained as a hairdresser. Lulu was kind. She didn’t say TOO much......just a lot of sobbing and bawling. She still weeps when she looks in a mirror. Once my hair was cut to the scalp.....she felt better. I told her I just wanted to look like her. She smiled and dried up her tears and nasal discharge.
We ran a few errands. Stopped at Walgreens so I could get a
back up on one of my eye drops. May not need them but just in case...better safe than sorry. Lunchtime was upon us.....Decisions, Decisions. Lulu voted for Arby’s. Okay. We ordered their sliders(roast beef/cheese, ham/cheese, pizza).....extra tasty. Cory got fries, Sam & Sandy got onion rings. They said they were very good. I splurged on their super chocolate milkshake.....yuuuummmmm. Sam was thrilled to get a new supply of a 1,000 napkins.....now he’s known as the Napkin King! For our next visit, we’ll go after 2:00 PM.....sliders will only be $1.00 each and milkshake $1.39. Not sure about their other specials but they have them. Lulu got excited when she spied 3 customers in uniform. She loves people in uniforms! She can’t take her eyes off them. They were employees from Disney’s Animal Kingdom on their lunch break.....enough said about Disney food (except for the EARL but that’s a chain). Lulu flung herself right onto their table, begging to be held....she wanted to but couldn’t reach out to them - no arms. They were more than happy to oblige her. Why not: they are used to working with unique critters, etc.- Lulu fit in fine with them. They laughed as they
posed with Miss Lulu. She was so thrilled. Now she wants to get a job at Animal Kingdom so she can wear the green uniform. It won’t be much of a uniform...no body....maybe they have a special hat she could wear. Thank you, kind people!
Cory drove us around the town of Celebration. It is always a nice drive seeing all the gorgeous homes and their quaint Main Street. He stopped at their Golf Clubhouse to check on something. Lulu saw the old fashioned, classic car that sits out front of it as a lawn decoration. She wasted no time hopping in and out of it for her photo shoots. Actually, it was kind of smelly and moldy on the inside so Lulu didn’t linger. She’s very conscientious about cleanliness and smells.
Today, Thursday, it was reported on the TV that Orlando was the hottest city in the country! I believe it! One step outside and your breath was sucked away and your skin turned a bright red! We have our air conditioning cranked up high. Cory decided to go to the pool. My eye instructions said no swimming so I stayed behind. Not for long....Lulu yelled and
Lunch at Arby’s
Lulu wears a slider cup on her head carried on that she wanted to go swimming. No problem with her eyes! She started out by driving the golf cart but I assured her we could easily walk over to the pool. I would carry her. If she had feet, she didn’t want to burn them. The pool is just one row behind our RV site....almost in our backyard. Lulu saw that clear, cool pool water and dove right in. First she thought she could do the Australian Crawl but without arms, it was a challenge. Instead, she just floated out into the middle of this huge water fish bowl. She was the only one in the pool. She had it all to herself. Oh, what a delight! She just relaxed and floated to her hearts content. She had never gone swimming before so I was so proud of her and how she adapted immediately to her ability to swim/float. Now I understand why she wanted to be a mermaid at Weeki Wachee. It all makes sense, doesn’t it! Another Esther Williams in the making.
Oh, no!!! Lulu is bobbing and splashing. She’s in trouble. She’s so exhausted from so many hours of floating. Fortunately, lifeguard Cory is
nearby and sees her struggle. He immediately dives in and saves her! A miracle as he pulls here to the edge of the pool and gently lifts her out. Oh, thank you, thank you strong swimmer, Cory. You are a savior. Lulu is alive and okay....just frightened and exhausted. She finds herself a chaise lounge to rest and get her wits about her. So many to pick from. She’s like Goldilocks until she decides on the right one. Perfect one right in the center. Makes sense....Lulu always wants to be the center of attention. And she was! Oh, a happy day with a perfect ending.
We hope your day and all future days have a perfect ending too. Stay with us.....we still have a few more activities to do....want to make sure you all are there to help us along. Happy Trails.
