It was a slow start to the day. I didn’t get up til after 8 and the am routine was sluggish too. I caught up on some phone calls then decided to take Oscar for his morning walk to the river store for some milk so I could have cereal for breakfast. We had a great walk through the forest and on the way spotted this tree that is just clinging to the earth. It is so eroded, there can’t be much holding it up. Picture No milk in the store so plan B was in order for breakfast.
I talked to some people on the way home and decided to go to the beach and explore Jupiter Island. It was a beautiful day and getting hotter by the minute so the beach it was to be. I packed cameras, water and chair and off I went. The parking was right where they said it would be and I even found a spot in the shade. This is a county park and everything is free, parking and beach. When I first saw the ocean it was an unbelievable sight. It was so blue, lots of different shades of blue, and fairly
white sand. There were old coral formations that protruded at the surf line and at high tide the water blows up through the holes in the coral, hence the name Blowing Hole County Park. There were surfers, sand pipers and shells to entertain me and before long several hours had passed. I can now add to the shell wind chime.
After leaving the park, I drove north on Jupiter Island to see what was there. This island is a very thin barrier island with the inland waterway on one side and the Atlantic on the other. Along the ride all I saw were beautifully manicured hedges, flowers and some grass. Behind the hedges were the homes of the billionaires on both sides of the road. Occasionally you could catch a glimpse of one of the mansions, just incredible. Some with Mexican flair with tile roofs and arches with palms around the house. Others more modern with simple lines but still massive structures. WOW there sure is lots of money here.
After 9 miles I reached the bridge in Hobe Sound where I had been at the beach several days earlier. I headed back and stopped at the Hobe Sound
wildlife sanctuary to see what that was all about. The building was closed for the day and there were signs that described the trails and rules. Oscar can go on a walk there so the next time I get there he’ll come too.
Arrived back home in time for Oscar’s dinner and I sat in my chair to read my book. I almost dozed off when there was this whining, Oscar had gotten himself stuck AGAIN. There is no way that dog is ever going to figure out how to untangle himself so I’ll have to try to find a spot to anchor him where there are no obstructions. It was almost sunset time so we walked to the boat ramp hoping to see a beautiful sunset. We were too early and decided to head back when a couple came carrying their paddle boards, they were going for a paddle at sunset. I couldn’t resist that picture so we went back and got bug bitten but also a cool sunset picture.
It was a gorgeous day and I was thrilled to have spent it at the beach.
