The one mostly about catching up with an NJ theatre old friend Friend Joanne arrived 1/7. She left her home on the eastern shore of MD on Saturday and travelled quickly so she could spend some time with us before getting into the ‘meat’ of her snowbird trip. I have known Joanne for approximately 10 years and have camped and travelled with her many times. We did Disney World in her timeshare and camping, and also spent a week at Mardi Gras, and most recently a week in the woods of NC. The day was lovely. Before she arrived we spent some time sitting on the beach. I was all set to pick shells and was very disappointed as the only shells were what I call ‘chopped salad, very small pieces crushed by the pounding surf. ... read more

The one about settling in My overnight at The Oaks was wet. Rain, Rain, Rain. Did I say Rain? I was so happy I did not have a dog to take out. I like sleeping in the RV in the rain. But, waking up, realizing I am on an island surrounded by puddles, and having to break camp was not pleasant. Unplugging electricity while feet in the water was not fun. (Yes, I did it properly.) I thought I waited until a break and set out to stow the steps and retract electric and water land lines, but I got drenched. Thank goodness I was in my house. I just dried myself off and lit out like a bat out of hell back to I95 S and the first rest area I came to. There I ... read more

Today we we’re able to sleep in until 6:30 since we didn’t need to have our bags out until 7. Par usual, I heard Amanda shuffling around so I got up a little earlier to get fold my clothes after getting them freshly warmed yesterday and to get ready for a casual 31 mile ride to Jacksonville Beach! I love that in real life, 30 miles would be a good day—but here in Bike & Build it’s a gift! I guess it helps when your only job for the day is to ride your bike...! We ate some DM’ed bagels instead of going to Maple Leaf (as originally planned by fun committee) and then all met up at Kookaburra Coffee for coffee crew! Aiden’s Dad even sang the song for us while we were eating our ... read more

One of the beaches you don't hear much about is Jacksonville Beach. We're not from Florida. We went to Jacksonville to visit some friends. They introduced us to Jacksonville Beach. We had a great time. The beaches are beautiful and about an hour or so east of the city of Jacksonville. There is a small town in Jacksonville Beach. The places to eat and drink in Jacksonville Beach are amazing and delicious. One of our favorite places to eat is the Metro Diner. The Metro Diner has outstanding and delicious diner food. But the breakfasts are really something. You won't want to miss the breakfasts. A good plan or at least the plan we did was to leave Jacksonville around 6:00 AM. Arrive at the Metro Diner about 7:00 AM and have breakfast at a comfortable ... read more

October means my wife is going to make me go to Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Nights. I'm not complaining. For me, it's a hunt for the people hiding in the shadows. I go thru Haunted Mazes like a Navy SEAL clearing a terrorist compound. I just wish I could use a paintball gun as I do it. That would add a whole new level of excitement to the park. So we are hitting the road today for a long weekend in Orlando. A couple of days of just the wife and I. Then the kid will join us on Friday to finish off the weekend. Weather is supposed to be nice. Here's to hoping the forecasters are at least close to being right.... read more

06:47 Local Time I should not be up this early. No one should be up this early. Maybe the garbage man and the newspaper delivery boy and milk man. But no one else. And especially not me. Especially not on the first day of another trip out of town. But for some reason it always seems like all of my trips begin at an ungodly hour of the night or morning when I should be sleeping. It's time to put the Annual Passes to Disney to work that my wife bought 3 months ago. I am sure it will be crowded with families with screaming kids on the first weekend of summer break. But this is the last weekend of Star Wars weekends at Disney and I am a big nerd. So we are going anyway. ... read more

16:50 Local time. I should be sleeping. In four days my second wedding anniversary will be coming around. We went to Key west for our honeymoon, and have decided to go back down there this year. Last year we did a cruise to the Bahamas. So the plan for this trip is to leave Jax Beach around midnight tonight (why I should be sleeping). That should put us crossing a bridge in the islands somewhere as the sun is coming up. I have no idea how I am going to pack everything into our little Jeep Wrangler. We are spending the first 3 nights down there camping. So all the gear that goes with that, has to go into the Jeep. The 3 nights after that, we will be in a hotel room just off Duval ... read more

We’re folding up the Florida AAA map for another year – what would we do without it. Especially love those little dots along a route indicating scenic highway. Sunday was a scenic highway day. From our North Beach Saint Augustine campsite, we”jeeped” up A1A toward the Jacksonville Beaches and Amelia Island. The Jacksonville Beaches are beautiful. We took the Mayport Ferry and enjoyed the 9 minute ride along with many families and cool Harley groups heading for the beach! The ferry crossing (St. Johns River, a major of port entry for Jacksonville) saves 28 miles and only costs $5 for a carful. The area is a mix of fishing, shrimping and associated industries, a US Navy Base, pawn shops, and waterfront restaurants like the “Sandollar” where we had a bite before our return ferry. We hadn’t ... read more

We woke up with the neighbor on the window... She made a delicious breakfast for us and fed my kids... thank you neighbor! We tided up all the loosy ends in the house and we went to the other Fennell's house to do some work in the trailer and say good bye once again. After couple hours, we were finally good to go. Lots of kisses and hugs, and more kisses and hugs and lots of tears and so long Jacksonville Beach. Our final destination for today is Pensacola-FL. We arrived in Pensacola late night and we slept in some cheap hotel. Nos acordamos com a vizinha na janela... Ela preparou um cafe da manha delicioso pra gente e alimentou meus filhos... Obrigada vizinha! Fizemos mais uma busca na casa pra ver se estava tudo em ... read more
