Sunday was a sad day. We had to say goodbye to the girls and head to the next campground. We packed up quickly and had a chance to visit one last time before we left Thousand Trails in Clermont.
At 11 am we headed out for Flagler Beach to stay in a state park there. The campground is on a spit of sand on the beach and the campsites are very small. I was a little nervous about being able to fit on the site with my new camper but we snuggled right in and fit with 6 " to spare. There is vegetation behind me then the ocean so it lulls us to sleep. There is a walkway to a beach overlook right next to us and I was able to incorporate that fence with the fence I have for Watson so he has extra room to roam.
The weather was cloudy, overcast and windy but we went for a walk on the beach anyway. There is a gate at the end of our little road and it leads to the public beach where dogs are allowed, so Watson got his first view of the ocean. We turned
him loose and he raced all over the place like a little kid. He had a great time.
Back at the camper Dee and I got ready to find a place to see the Superbowl since we can only get 2 stations on the tv and one of them was not FOX. We went to one restaurant and their tv didn't work so we found another place up the street that had 6 tvs on one wall. The place was jumping. We found the last table and were immediately given raffle tickets for a drawing at half-time and told that all appetizers were half price. So we had appetizers for dinner. It was a real rowdy crowd, mostly Atlanta fans, so we hooted and hollowed with the best of them. I won a T shirt and 2 NFL glasses in the raffle drawing and we went home at the end of regulation time.
Monday was a beautiful morning starting at 48 degrees but quickly climbed to 72 with the brilliant sun. Dee and I took Watson on the nature trail after getting our bearings on the other side of the park. After breakfast we did some chores then
sat in the sun and enjoyed the sea air.
After lunch we packed up and went to the beach to enjoy the sun and watch the waves. There was a breeze off the water and it got cool quickly so we turned around to be in the sun but then you couldn't see the ocean. Dee knitted, I read a book for a while til we decided to head back to warm up. We sat a the campsite for a while and a neighbor came by for a visit. She is from Ohio and works heavy equipment.
Soon it was dinner time and we decided to find a seafood restaurant. After a bit of a search we came across this fish market/restaurant a block off main st. were the locals eat. It was fabulous food with a down home feel.
Back to camp, looked at the stars then headed in for the night. Great day!
