Taking Flight
Breakfast this morning at 8:30 so the least I could do is be there on time. Kat made a delicious casserole with bacon, eggs and cheese and all 25 of us really enjoyed it.
I was signed up to go on a trip to a state park not far from here but I didn’t have a great night’s sleep and I have been tired so I thought I’d stay home, clean the inside of the camper and just take it easy.
The day was hot and sunny so I put up the awning for shade and was inside when all of a sudden there was a gust of wind and the awning was flopping around like crazy. I went out and knew something was wrong. It turned out that the wind had bent the brackets holding the awning to the camper and they were not attached at the top of the bracket. Several LoWs members came to help but we couldn’t get it back together so I opted for an rv repair guy. There was one in the campground and he came and looked at it and said he didn’t think it would fall
off if I wanted to take it the 15 min to the shop. I headed out right away not knowing how long it would take to repair and soon I was there.
It took about ½ hr to diagnose the problem, bent bracket, but they couldn’t get the owning off the bracket to try to straightened it. They assured me it wouldn’t come off the camper while driving so I opted to just leave it and fix it at home. They didn’t charge me anything! They were very accommodating, pleasant, just wanting to get the problem resolved. I thanked them and recommended them to everyone at the campground.
Then it was time to meet for dinner . We were meeting as a group at 5 to go to a restaurant all 25 of us. We gathered in several cars and trucks for the 10 min ride to the Happy Gator.
It was a local place on the lake right in the little town of Eustis. Great meals, all you can eat fish was a great favorite, and the best waitress in the world. We sat at tables of 6 or more so we all enjoyed conversations with
one another. Kat asked a few interesting questions, one was “What don’t you like about this age?“ and most of us said the aces and pains, but we also said we liked this age and were very content. Really good to know this part of life is good.We all enjoyed and then headed home with full bellies.
Took Oscar for a quick walk, then write the blog, then directly to bed.
"It is in the wild places, where the edge of the earth meets the corner of the sky, the human spirit is fed." This is a quote from Art Wolfe, a very famous outdoor photographer. Couldn't have said it better.
