Blog 03-17-18 Happy St Patrick's Day
The morning walk was cut just a little short because I was going to the quilt and small engine show here at the campground and wanted to save my back for a little extra walking.
I went to the area with the historic buildings and there was a whole bunch of canopies set up with people milling around all over. There was a section for yard sale items, small engine exhibators and some food items scattered about the grounds. There was even a farmer's market with all kinds of fresh fruits and veggies.
I don't know why the people with small engines came and went through all the trouble of setting up their engines, perhaps to just show off what they have accomplished and the toys they have made. No machine engines were for sale just exhibited.
The quilts were displayed around the residence hall,( pictures) and there were some items for sale as well as doilies, table runners, pot holders and a few quilts.
There was even a motorcycle with a side car that was an ice cream cooler complete with bells, just like the Good Humor man. Shrimp
was for sale at another place, home made sausage sandwich at another and bar-b-q sandwiches to complete the choices.
On the way out I stopped at a stand where 2 men were giving away samples (for a donation) of the bread that the Koreshan's made years ago. He had baked it in a dutch oven on a gas grill and it tasted terrific, nice crispy crust. The other fellow had a sample of beans that turned out to be from the west, sure did taste good.
I returned to the camper and started a new book but Watson was having non of it. He pestered me til we went for another walk up to the river and along the nature trail for a while. It was all in the shadows so it was pleasant walking along because it was well into the 80s in the sun. On the way back to the camper walking along the road I almost walked on a snake. It suprised me and I grabbed the dog back before he saw it or stepped on it, didn't know what kind it was but I didn't think it was poisenous because of the shape of
the head. Turned out to be a rat snake. He was very pretty with copper coloring and different size patches along the top and sides. I did take a picture with my phone but didn't have my camera with me, so I can't post it on the blog.
Watson was finally satisfied to stay at home so I settled to read my book. In a short time my nieghbor came over and we chatted for a while til it was time to come in for the night.
I packed up some of my outside things because I am moving tomorrow to Myaka River, one of my favorite parks.
