Getting settled
It was nesting day. I put out the rug, set up the chairs and the sun was boiling hot already so I carefully opened the awning, put out the supports and installed the tie downs. I do learn my lessons!
I was already sweaty and hungry, didn’t eat breakfast yet, when a man rode up on a bike and said Hi to me and got off his bike. Interesting, do I know you?
It turned out he and his wife saw my rig in the line to check in and he rode all over the park looking for me. They are avid Pleasureway campers but had never seen a car being towed and wanted to talk about the camper with me. They had one for 8 years then decided to become full time campers. They sold their house and Pleasureway and bought a 5th wheel and toured the country for 5 years to find the best place to live. Strange as it may seem, they discovered home was Delaware, where they started, and are building a home there and intend to sell their 5th wheel and buy another Pleasureway to go on trips about
a month long. They invited me to their site to visit, which I will do.
It is so interesting to hear people’s stories, we all have at least one.
About 1 or so I took the dog and car on the trek to find the lake. It turned out to be within walking distance. I grabbed my camera and went out on the dock to take a look at the water and see out onto the lake further. It is a beautiful lake with Cyprus trees, Spanish moss, wild flowers, and the biggest lily pads I ever saw. Pictures
We explored a little more and kept finding dead ends to the trails. I was ever watchful for alligators and snakes mostly for Oscar’s safety. I got my chair from the car and found some shade and planted myself to see what nature was up to. There was a huge flock of white egrets flying on the other side of the lake, too far to take a picture, but beautiful to watch. An occasional fish jumped, wetting my appetite to fish.
Then a couple got out of their car with oars and life vests and they proceeded
to get a boat off a rack and launch it in the lake. It was fairly comical as they had never rowed before and didn’t know where to sit or which was front or back. The boat was fairly tippy, flat bottom and small and they ended up backwards but made headway into the lake. I have to admire them for trying and succeeding even if it was unorthodox. I took some pictures of things that caught my eye and headed home.
It was almost 3 and Kat and I were going shopping for assorted items so we headed to the nearest Wally World. I have NEVER seen a bigger store. I got a cart and tried to find the department I wanted after some rambling about but no luck. So I found a sales person, asked the item was and she said, “Come on, I’ll show you”. One item down so I asked her for another and she said, “It’s this way.” I had my own personal shopper!
It took 45 min to acquire 18 items so I should have stuck with the employee. Another 10 min in line to check out and I was done. Kate
was behind me by several min. While I waited I was serenaded by one of the greeters singing everything from oldies to opera. His voice was pretty good and I enjoyed his enthusiasm and talent. When we got back it was happy hour at Kat’s and dinner at Ginnie’s again. We had the leftovers from the night before plus a salad and Kat brought pudding and cookies for dessert.
Again I was tired and back at my home by 7:30.
