Feb. 29…..
My friends Cory and Sandy (yes Rob, I have friends) have reminded me that they haven’t seen an update in a while, so here it is! We had thought that we might move to a different place in March….but have decided to stay at this same RV park. We did, however, move to a different spot within the park. The sites here are not too wide, and by the time we put out our ‘slides’ and our patio awning, we felt like we were right ‘on top’ of the neighbors; so we wandered around (the 1
st week) and found an available site with more room and were able to move there. Plus...we are on the main road going in and out of the park, so we get to watch every RV coming and going. It (this city) is a convenient location to visit with friends, go to local yard sales/Estate sales, and, also there are a few flea markets not too far from us where we can set up. Oh yeah, and we are almost ‘across the street’ from a winery! We have already done a winery tour and tasting and who knows….maybe one in March!
The
weather in central Florida has been pretty good in Feb., mostly sunny skies, 80’s/daytime and 60’s/night-time. We have had a few cold nights and a couple of cloudy/rainy days, but they have been the exception.
Shortly after arriving we contacted our friends Dwight & Val (omg Rob, more friends). They live here most of the year and summer in our town in CT. They live on a canal and have a boat and since it was a beautiful Florida day, invited us over for a boat ride. We took a leisurely ride through the canals, across the lake to a dockside restaurant for lunch and then back. We saw several alligators, lots of birds and even a turtle sunning himself! It was a great time. Pictures are attached (of course). The RV park where we are staying has an ‘all you can eat’ Chicken every Tuesday evening and ‘all you can eat’ fish every Friday evening (both are terrific!) and we invited Dwight & Val for the following Tuesday.
Well…..Monday we set up at a flea market, we did ok….but Jim wasn’t feeling too well. By Monday night he was in terrible pain (a tooth)….so 1
st thing Tuesday
I asked a ‘host’ at the campground if she knew a good local dentist. She did and he was able to see Jim at noon that very day. Turns out, he had an abscessed tooth and needed a root canal, so he started Jim on antibiotics and pain medication (vicodin) and we made an appointment with a specialist the dentist recommended. Obviously we had to cancel our chicken dinner for that evening, but our friends understood that we needed to postpone. We went to the ‘specialist’ about a week later, he started the procedure, but then told Jim that he still had a ‘raging’ infection in the tooth, so he pumped antibiotics into the hole he had drilled into the tooth, gave Jim a new prescription for vicodin and made an appointment for almost 2 weeks later, so that the infection could clear. And that’s where we are with that right now. Jims pain is mostly gone, just a little sore, and his appointment is for this coming Tuesday. Yes, in the meantime Dwight & Val were able to make it over for that chicken dinner!
Yesterday we went over to Sandy & Cory’s RV park. We know Sandy
& Cory, as we both set up at the Brimfield, MA Antiques & Collectible show and have become friends. They took us out to lunch and then we went back to their Motorhome, where we sat and talked all evening and into the night. (Hope we didn’t overstay our welcome). We like them and seem to have a lot to talk about and the time just kind of gets away from us. (Dwight & Val….we really like you guys too!!)
This Saturday there is a vintage motorcycle show that we may go to.
Also upcoming we plan to go ‘Downtown’ Disney (apart from Disneyworld). We need to check on some RV parts in Orlando, which is about 45, or so, min. from here; and I haven’t been to the Rainforest Café (Jim has been twice before), so we plan to lunch there. Although we are not too far from Disneyworld we don’t plan on going. Both Jim and I have been there in the past and we really don’t have any interest in visiting except with the grandchildren. I would love to see the look in their eyes and their reactions at Disneyworld. Perhaps sometime in the future.
Azaleas and other spring flowering trees are now in full bloom, Iris is in bloom and deciduous trees are leafing out.
I think that’s about it for now….oh yeah…in case you are wondering, (Cherie, Bobi & Evelyn), my foot is much better. The black & blue area is now about the size of a postage stamp. It still is tender and sore at the end of the day, especially if I have been on my feet a lot…..and yes, I have been back to wearing my regular shoes for a while now.
I hope you enjoy the pictures I have included.
Linda
