I was very lucky to get a tour today.
I met Teresia and John in Alexandria, VA for a quick holiday tour in and around DC. What a great time we had.

We drove through the Shenandoah Valley to Civil war battle sites including Gettysburg. Tried to purchase a memory stick from an incompetent group of staff at Radio Shack, I very nearly had to do their job just to make the sale.

Saw Jefferson’s Monticello and then back up to Alexandria. I must say if you are in the DC area make a visit to historic Alexandria, a perfect community if I’ve ever seen one.

Did the obligatory sites in DC. Best eat: The Old Ebbitt Grill just a block away from the White House

A most auspicious position for a calm coolheaded general and president. The largest equestrian statue in the United States and second largest in the world.

More memorials, monuments and tributes per acre than I’ve ever seen before. The battlefield was expansive and had it not been for a few miscalculations the results of the battle may have been very different. One person on the tour kept asking the guide “what if” questions and second guessing the battle strategy as if he was an expert that is planning on time traveling back to the past to change the outcome.

I got past the gates of this guarded Medical Center because Teresia was there to write a story on the new garden. Hi John.

Great Photographs
Great photographs, Donavin. I took many photographs on this trip, and I may as well throw them all away. You catch the essence of what we saw and did in Washington D.C. so much better and so much more beautifullly. A nice reminder of a wonderful trip.
