o.k. now the time is here.. no not christmas time.. the TIME TO SAY GOODBYE to my beloved hostfamily and the wonderful fall-colored Connecticut!
On Saturday I have my flight to California.. I suppose I will be offline for at least a week - until I am all settled in and comfortable with my new surroundings.
Yeah I had an awesome last week and an even better weekend!
Lets start with: " I didn't sleep much the last 10 days"
Beginning last monday I was determined to do something with my last 2 weeks..then again thinking of my UNDER AGED existence I told myself: " o.k., starbucks, movies, party that's all I wanna do".
On monday Julia and I went to Starbucks just to run into a German Au Pair from Thuehringen!
We had a great night talking until 2 am....I was so tired that I finally went to bed at aroung 6 am ( I cannot sleep anymore - too many thoughts in my head about everything)
Tuesday was Gilmore Girl night .. and yeah..something else --> I ended up in bed at 4 am.
Wednesday was yet again Starbucks day with the same people! Only that we
made the plan to go to a club *MY FIRST AMERICAN CLUB EXPERIENCE*....AND MY LAST!!! We went ther on Thursday night, after playing an hour Volleyball. The club was full of people.. I think I have seen 10 (!) other white guys there...NOT MORE. The rest was Black and Hispano American.....the music was so loud that the base almost made me vomit, the people were so small..I ( with my almost 6 foot)could easily overview the whole club. At exactly 00.52 am THE LIGHT WAS SWITCHED ON... I thought something happened so they needed light to get rid of the problem.. turns out -> club's closing...WHAT THE HELL...yeah clubs in CT close this early. I mean I was grateful.. I didn't want to be there one more minute!
I enjoy my private parties with friends, where I can actually talk to them without screaming into their ears more!
It was horrible!
On Friday we had a GIRLS NIGHT OUT: Julia, Juali K., Chris, Emma, Lisa and me went to Applebees ( with short stop at the local starbucks for a wonderful grande white Moccha) and then to the movies. I can tell you THE GUARDIAN ( zu deutsch "jede sekunde
zaehlt") is the movie event of the year.. and I have to know it.. I went to every single one of them! It is a long, but brilliant movie about the cost guard - of couse combined with a great story about passion, love, fear, strength and problems. Because of my *special* situation ( leaving my friends and hostfamily in a week) I found the movie to be extra emotional and I sat there crying the first half hour and the last hour...BEAUTIFUL!!!*cry***
On saturday my HF left me for 2 days..going to her sister's. O.k. I thought then maybe I could have my Goodbye party here at home with the 6 girls..all getting drunk and sleeping over ...did not work out....grrr..o.k. we looked for a place all over and slowly Plan A, B and C became impossible to fulfill...Thanks to Chris we celebrated at her house...
We had Tequila, Smirn Off, Corona and....ah yeah Tequila rose..my new favorite drink...mmmhhh! We played the American circle of death ( card game where you have to do different drinking acts..thoughout the game) really funny..you will see the pics!
After Sharades ( Pantomime) and talking about all kinds of stories that happened
to us we drove home at around 2 am.
I was a little bit drunk ( just had 2 smirn off and 1/2 corona and some tequila) so I was terrified by getting pulled over by the police in the middle of the night! Knowing it from tv shows I already tried to say the english alphabet backwards all the time(just in case)- NEVER CAME THOUGH IT!
Sunday is the day where everyone rests right?---WRONG.. NEW YORK CITY was the plan.. at 9.30 ( when Juila was supposed to pick me up) me cell phone woke me up " Hi geny it's julia ..you awake."..."NOW YES"....so the whole trip got delayed for a few hours.
Arriving in the sunny and surprisingly warm NYC at 2 pm! We were sooo tired! But there were certain things that needed to be done - wall street, statue of liberty, crossing the brooklyn bridge, etc...WE DIDN't DO ONE OF THESE THINGS. But we went to the Times Square, to the Empire State building, and Brooklyn...The view of the BB and Manhattan was breathtaking...so beautiful.. I took like 100 pics...
we came home at around 10.30 after meeting a nica AuPair from Slovakia on the
train! I was so tired on the way to my house.. AND SO AWAKE when I went to bed... I sayed up until 1 am!
Now the whole last week and the lack of sleep is catching up with me and I am a walking ZOMBIE...All I want is sleep, but I have so much stuff to do. Washing laundry, packing suitcases, emailing friends, sending postcards, saying goodbye to sooo many people, running through Ridgefield and taking pics of everything.. I am NOT ALLOWED TO SLEEP *smile*
However...
I enjoyed the last week and I am going to enjoy the days of this week with my hostkids and the night with my friends...no sleep!!!
I gotta get some coffee now... talk to ya all soon. I love you, I miss you!
Next message from CALIFORNIA!
