boston..early in the morning Hey,
I am back from a great trip.
This Saturday Julia and I wanted to go to Boston, because she hasn't been there yet.
Unfortunately the weather forecast said that Boston will be very rainy on sat. morning.
So we decided to go on Sunday *no problem*
But there was a surprise waiting for us.... a really goooood one!
Julia called me 11am on Saturday, telling me that her host dad gave her $100 - as a reward for her working so much this week and as a "go-away" present for me ( I am going to CA in 3 weeks). I was "shocked" because I really didn't think that something like this would happen.
I packed my bag within 10 minutes, got ready in another 10, got my money and picked up Julia!
We left Ridgefield at 2 pm. I couldn't wait to get on the Highway.
The weather was awesome. Sunny, warm, not one single cloud in the sky!
We went to a Motel in Sharon ( about 45 minutes away from Boston). It was nice and comfortable - but we didn't really care.. we were about to spend the night in Boston!!!
We arrived on
Harvard Square (after driving around for 30 minutes) at 7.30pm. The streets were full of young people and musicians.
After an almost 4.5 hour drive the first thing I needed was a COFFEE!!!!!
We sat down in a nice cafe' and listened to Rodger. Rodger was....about 28 years old and standing there in the middle of the street singing wonderful songs like "with or without you", " one of us", " time after time" and " eyes without a face"....all the great CLASSICS.
He was there from 9 - midnight - so our evening was quite entertaining!
During his breaks we walked around , bought some souveniers, drank another coffee and tried to figure out which college party to crash!
Around 11pm I had the wonderful idea to buy some Red Bull. Julia did the same and after the second can we already ( Julia more than me) were very *funny* and unstoppable....who knew that something harmless like Red Bull has such and impact on some people-----JULIA!!!!!
O.k. Rodger's battery died around 11.45 and we looked for a group of students we could follow to the next party.
A group was found after two minutes. Convinced
that we were DEFINITELY NOT dressed up enough for a party we followed them anyway. Until we realized that we needed tickets for that one 😞
We went down Mass. Ave to find something else...we found clubs...WE ARE NOT 21!
F*** IT! We went back to Harvard Square.
At finally 1.45 am we decided that we had enough and that we would drive back to the Motel.
At 3 am I called my parents and wrote some postcards...
We set the alarm on 7.30 am - knowing that neither of us would be able to get out of bed at that time!
next morning: 7.30 am ..ALARM GOES OFF......AHHH no I don't wanna wake up....
Julia ditches her plan to wash her hair..."2 more minutes"..
We leave at 8.15...never thought that we would make it.
On the way to Boston we stop at Dunkin Donuts..OF COURSE..."Yeah, hi...one LARGE coffee with milk and sugar (for me), on medium iced latte with extra vanilla syrup (julia) and 2 egg, cheese and Beacon bagels.
We take the "T" to get in the city....exiting at Park Street..in the middle of the city.
I have been here once before...but I
still love it. I think Boston is very beautiful and in some ways even better than NYC!
We had to do breaks every now and than ( o.k. CONSTANTLY) . ..because we were so exhausted!!!
The best part was AGAIN : Quincy Market.... it reminds me of Covent Garden in London / England..so beautiful..so many people, music, artists, souveniers.....just great!
We did souvenier shopping too that day. I got myself a Harvard Shirt, a I "clover" Boston...magnets, pens, pins (yes Dad, I got some for you too!!!)
I bought tons of postcards and I will send them today...probably the last ones I will send from Connecticut!
We went through the whole city....Boston Tea Party ship, Financial District, Boston Downtown...EVERYTHING
We went to Harvard again to see it by light....great great great...but nothing compared to YALE...I just love that campus..
When we went on the campus we saw a huge building with tons of people sitting on the stairs...the Harvard Choir gave a little concert...I was amazed..they sounded awesome ..I will publish one vidoe..of course you can hear me sing too (nothing compared to that star in the front of course...but hey I love music).
We
went on the "T" at about 3.30pm....talking about..if Harvard student have other friends than Harvard students and if they are really that full of themselves..like everyone says.
We felt that it would be kind of difficult to make friends with a group of Harvard students...we could not really tell why...
Yale seemed different though...easier to get to know people...
We arrived at home around 8 pm........I was DONE with that weekend..my legs hurt and I was exhausted....but still "HIGH" because of the wonderful Harvard Choir concert.....it was just aweosme..they sounded great!
In my bed...I watched some CSI (what else), wrote the rest of my postcards...and went to bed at midnight.
It was a great weekend...
