The first channel I got grounded in, but that was on purpose Three days until I leave for Israel!!!! Can you tell I'm excited? I finally got my itinerary for the trip, so now I know where I'm going, but I think I'll leave it a surprise for all of you! Also because I'm not so sure that Seth won't change it up at some point...There is some pretty cool stuff; a kibbutz on the shores of Galilee, a stay in Bedouin tents (My grandfather wanted to know if we would be sleeping with Bedouins in the tent...He gets some very odd ideas). So what have I been doing... A lot of getting ready (buying sunscreen like mad!) I went horseback riding on Tues and Wed, adn felt that a bit last night, but it was fun. I love riding my aunt Betsey's old Arab. He acts like he's 4 instead of 24 (not sure how old he really is :P) We also went to a show last night! There is an old Opera house here called the Goodspeed Opera House that puts on old Broadway musicals all the time. It was so awesome. I am still, well, text just doesn't do it. I now HAVE to learn how to tap. SO much
FUN! And it is a beautiful old theater, with all sorts of nifty parts, like a balcony that you can go out on at intermission that looks out over the river, and a beautiful old wooden bar with tuxedoed waiters (pretty cute 😉 lol), and cozy sitting rooms. The set was amazing! All these parts that rolled on and off (no fly system, I think) but everything had pieces that popped out like magic and there was really beautiful use of a painted scrim and lighting to show parts that were happening "backstage." Oh, I guess I haven't said the the show was "42nd Street!" Silly me 😊 So that was awesome. I forgot my camera, so I have no pics of the place. Very sad 😞 And then today I went kayaking (FINALLY!) on the river for about 4 hours which was really great. This place would be sooooo great for growing up. I was sitting out on this sort of island (it's an island surrounded my marsh, which is then surrounded by river) adn trying to imagine all the fantasy places it could be, like Robinson Crusoe's island, and Neverneverland. Or for those of you who have read
Mud
...had to get out of the kayak to explore the island! "Swallows and Amazons" it would be ideal for that kind of thing. SOOO much fun. I spent half an hour there pretending I was a woman from the Mohegan tribes out collecting berries or something a la "Island of the Blue Dolphins." Anyway, then I went exploring the canals through the marsh, which was hard, since the tide (it's a tidal river) was out, so they were mostly empty. I found one big one that I could float along, and started down it. The banks were covered with fiddler crabs that all rushed into their holes when I passed them, and minnows made a rather frantic trail ahead of me. It was a bit like a parade, though everyone was running away lol. The channel kept getting more and more shallow, and I finally beached my kayak prob 30 feet from the opening to the river! Lucky for me the tide was coming up so i sat there trying to bait the minnows with my toes (they wouldn't come anywhere near me) and had a nice little chat with my dad watching the water run upstream (a bit odd that) and in twenty minutes I had quietly floated to the

gorgeous I know lol mouth of the channel! It was wonderful. I paddled back, got to the house covered in mud, scrubbed up, and went to have dinner with my great aunt. Thank goodness I have things to do here! I'd go crazy thinking about Sunday otherwise. Well, my guess is that my next post will be from Tel Aviv!!! Or the airport, depending on how long I am stuck there lol.
Love to everyone,
Claren
