In the RV (FINALLY!)In the RV (FINALLY!)In the RV (FINALLY!)

We took the RV for a test drive to visit some friends who had moved from our neighborhood 2 years ago - Austin was excited to see Jack and John

Day 8 - August 12, 2006

Scott woke up bright and early to go pick up the RV. Even though it was only a couple of blocks away, it took almost 2 hours to do paperwork and get the RV orientation (video included). I guess it's not surprising that the video was produced by the insurance underwriter for the RV company. I went over later to watch the video and give them a copy of my driver's license so that I could also drive the RV (not that I ever intend to drive it!)

Austin took the opportunity to call some former neighbors who now live in the Denver area. Jerry and Denise have three sons, two of whom Austin played with as often as he could. They graciously offered us spontaneous hospitality at their home in the Castle Rock area, and what a beautiful area! They routinely see all kinds of wildlife including buffalo, elk, and their oldest son Paul even spotted a bear! (Paul recently returned from a mission trip to Turkey. Being the only American with blond hair and blue eyes, he received many offers from marriage-minded mamas of eligible young women, all wanting to come live

in the U.S.A. Maybe they could just trade places with those U.S. citizens who feel that our country is a terrible place to live!)

Jack and John and Austin seemed to have seen each other just yesterday, rather than two years ago. We enjoyed catching up with Jerry and Denise and their family. They treated us to a terrific dinner (still need that recipe by the way!) and even more terrific company. We also enjoyed a brief tour of the area. Krysten even got a couple of leaves for her collection. We really miss you guys, but are glad that you found such a terrific area!

We spent another night at the hotel despite already having the RV, because it was not yet stocked. Getting everything put in the "right" place is an ongoing challenge.

Jerry and Denise invited us over for dinner (the last home-cooked meal for us until September!) The visit (and food) was fantastic - thanks!
