well... the count is in our favor for the hotel to camping it experience, 3 to 4, and hotel is winning. My current location is sitting in front of the State Capitol Building, in downtown Denver CO, sitting in the car, and using the computer! AND listening to Joni Mitchell. Weird.
anyway... Since South Dakota our trip has taken a turn for the better, sort of. We went from Mitchell, South Dakota, and made our way to Wyoming. We went to the Wind Cave National Park along the way. That was amazing. You go into caves that desend down 160 feet into the ground. It was hard to breath and scary at first, but since I'm such a trooper, I made it through.
From the Wind Caves, we went south down to Wyoming. That was amazing! The drive down south was breath taking. Our goal was to camp somewhere outside of Cheyenne for the night, but every place we went to was full. Apparently there was some sort of "turn around" going on at the local factory... don't ask, cause i didn't. We stopped in one town called "Chugwater", population 230! Needless to stay, we didn't fit in as
locals, so we hightailed it out of there. By this time it was 8pm at night, and we were getting tired. The weather forecast once again was calling for 30 degree weather. SO, we continued our drive further south, and stayed in the capital of Wyoming, Cheyenne. We stayed in a lovely Motel 6. (i know what you are all thinking, BUT it really was cold AND there was no place to camp!)
Thurday, May 11. We spent the day in the city/town of Cheyenne. We had so much fun. It is a "city", but really feels like a small town, kind of like Worcester. We went to shops, bought stuff we shouldn’t have and took some great pictures. I felt the need to try on some Cowgirl clothes and make Laura take pictures! It was cute, as you can see. Apparently Cheyenne is the train capital, so we did some sight seeing at old antique trains. After a day making the city our own, we drove south down to Fort Collins. We set up camp at an amazing campground, over looking the mountains. It was truly breathtaking. After having spent the past 6 days with only ourselves to
keep us company, we were ready for a night out, i.e. talk to people of the opposite sex. Fort Collins is a college town with plenty of drinking establishments to keep us busy! A good, and well needed fun time was had.
Friday, May 12. We drove down into the Rocky Mountain National Park. We entered by Estes Park, which is right in the heart of the mountains. Along the way we saw elk, deer, mountain goats, and big horned sheep. The wild life was so close to the road! At one point we were taking some pictures of some mountain goats, and something must have scared them, because they stopped eating, and starting walking towards us!! Needless to say we walked quickly BUT calmly back to our car! The view from the top of the park was amazing. The road through was closed part of the way due to snow, but we got to go up as far as 11, 000 feetish. We spent the night in the park. It was my first experience camping in Bear Country. We took all the appropriate precautions. The weather wasn't bad temperature wise, but the wind was brutal! I woke up
so many times because i really thought the tent was going to be ripped apart! But it wasn't! We woke up to a beautiful sunny day.
Saturday May 13. Drove out of the RMNP toward Boulder. Not impressed with Boulder. People are way to healthy and into riding bikes! We got more than one dirty look in our directions, especially when i was eating a full fat muffin in one hand and sucking down an Large Cappuccino in the other! I have yet to figure out if it my Mass. ways of just my loud personality that makes me stand out EVERY where I go! haha. After Boulder, we checked out the Red Rocks amphitheaters. It was neat, ehhh. i guess. I just thought it would have been bigger. I will admit I was in awe while imaging the Grateful Dead had played there! We are currently in Denver, as i said above, sitting in the car. We are heading further south to see Michael in Colorado Springs. We are planning on spending a few days there.
That’s all for now.... please feel free to leave me comments, and lots of them..
love, jenny

Is there any sun down there? Those are some pretty white legs in those cow girl BOOTS. JK. You look so cute as a redneck. Hopefully you bought a cow girl hat as a souveneir (spell check that one). It sounds like you are having so much fun and experiencing it all. You are not missing much here. It has rained for almost a week and is going to rain for 10 more days. I love the pictures, send more. Love ya, Lori
