What a better way to spend Valentines Day then to leave the county. Business Class to LA. Now thats love. Thank you Virgin.
Despite some horror stories from Crew regarding Standby and check in I manager to drop my bags and be issued a business class ticket right away. No standby pass. Winning. Went through security, got a nice pat down , ate some maccas and then did what I do best – sit on my butt and kill time at the airport.
Boarding time, scan of the ticket and oh oh... No deal. Luckily the beeping error was just a change of seat and I still ended up in business class. I think I was sitting there like a deer in headlights until the door was closed and there was no chance I was being kicked off the plane or back to economy
First impressions – wow. So much room its amazing. Food, service, lay flat bed. Sure could get used to this. Flight was great. Unfortunately I did not get more than probably 3 hrs sleep – pretty much same as I would in economy, but I was comfortable and arrived feeling rested not sore.
Outside LAX got the super shuttle. As lots of people say you get in the van and it does do several happy laps around the airport to try and fill up before it departs, but I'm happy to be in the van and at least moving it didn't really bother me.
I was first drop off and was able to check in early. Yay. Stayed at Best Western Plus Stovalls Inn where I stayed with Contiki back on my 2008 trip. Quick bite to eat next door at Cocos Bakery then it was Disney land Bound. Love the place but its just not the same without Cat or someone as a ride buddy and to talk to when waiting for the rides.
What followed was then 4 days at Disneyland/California Park. One thing about this time of the year that hit me was the cold. I was wearing every thing a had every layer of clothing and was still freezing. Had a good time though. Great to be a kid again.
The first Afternoon I did the Pirates Adventure Dinner. Was pretty good. Food was decent enough and show wasn't too corny.
Sat 16
th attended Harlem
Globetrotters. Found my way on the bus no issues. My first basketball game ever, if you could call it that. The seats were close, scary close. Hugely entertaining and a lot of laughs. Loved it. I hope they come to Australia one day.
Next day was Medieval Dinner Tournament. It was alright. Nothing special but glad I've just done it once.
And then the best day ever. A new found love of sport. ICE HOCKEY. I always wanted to go in Canada but just had to settle for the next best thing.
Made myself a nice Asian American 'friend' at the bus stop. I thoroughly enjoying his life story that he was American but hated Americans, especially the black ones, and he should have been born in Canada but his parents screwed up and so therefore he is stuck as a US citizen. Also told me the previous bus driver lied to him cause she was black and told him the bus didn't go to the Honda centre when in fact it did. Apparently a black stole his trick or treating candy as a child and that proves all are criminal. He then informed the Hispanic bus
driver about his hatred of blacks but that he could tolerate Hispanics as they work. “oh god” He then walked me to the stadium in case I got lost. Guess he is attempting to prove he' s a nice guy and not a raging racist. Lucky me.
