Sometime during the night Jason comes in falls in to bed. Ken sleeps in Uncle Don’s room. I wake up around 7am, but Jason and Lola are still asleep so I quietly take a shower and get dressed. Ken knocks on the door and Jason and Lola wake up. Jason is not feeling well at all; he obviously was over served last night. Apparently Uncle went to bed after one drink and the guys had a ‘guys’ night. They drank, laughed and caught up on the past. Eduardo asked Ken if he could call him Dad. Of course he said yes. I had asked Eduardo earlier in the day if he would call me Mom and he said yes.
Jason said he cannot move and feels horrible. We call Josh and he and Eduardo need to take showers then will be over so we can go out for breakfast.
Ken, Lola and I go out for a quick cup of coffee and OJ and to pick up a muffin for Jason. He needs something in his stomach.
By the time we return, Josh and Eduardo arrive ten minutes later. Jason asks us to please shut the curtain and put on the
do not disturb sign.
We went to the Broken Yolk around the corner and had a delicious breakfast. Afterwards we walk down K Street and come upon a MLK parade. Lola is interested for a few minutes and then we cross over to walk next to Petco Park. It’s such a beautiful park. We go around the block and see more of the parade. We get a call from Jason. He is upright and feeling better and packing up to leave for home, Las Vegas.
We return to the hotel, help Jason, give hugs and kisses and he is on his way. It is sad to see them go; sad that our vacation is coming to an end; sad that I only have one more day with Josh and Eduardo. Gosh I hate this part. There is all this anticipation leading up to the vacation and before you know it, it’s over. Some people look forward to getting home. I can honestly say, I don’t recall feeling that way. I love traveling, especially when the trip has been so fabulous. It really has. It has been so wonderful.
After they leave we go to Coronado to walk around, have an
iced tea, some salt water taffy and then head back for a nap.
Ken fell right asleep; I couldn’t. My mind is wandering…thinking about all the fun we had….about saying goodbye….
We have reservations for 5:15 at Cucina near Balboa Park. I’ve been to Balboa Park and the zoo but I’ve never been to this side. The restaurant sits on a corner in a nice area. We had a delicious dinner: pizza, lasagna, chocolate nutty mouse, pears with marzipan and a cookie crust bottom in a mason jar, Chianti!!!
Afterwards we took a walk through a park and over the bridge that leads to Balboa Park and the museums.
I love this town.
I have walked so much this trip, my foot feels better, I feel good.
Back to the hotel, say goodnight, read my book and fall asleep.
