Our 2 days in LA were a bit of a blur. Lots of sleeping and asking of the time. We made it to Santa Monica to check out the beach. It was cold and misty - weird! A total contradiction to West Hollywood where we were staying. But we found an awesome Mexican restaurant and as it was happy hour, we indulged in quite a few extremely potent margaritas. Mmmmmm, Mexican food is one of my all time favourites and those margaritas just made it all the more delicious.

The next morning, we headed off to pick up the hire car. Mick had requested a standard American car, a Pontiac, but by the time we got there (a tad late) they had given our car to someone else. So what do we get instead .... ? A bright red shiny Mustang convertible - oh my goodness i laughed my ass off!

The LA freeways are freaky and every bit as dangerous as they say in the movies. Luckily Mick is a super confident driver and he was legendary in negotiating the traffic although i could see it was pretty stressful! An hour into the trip and we were out of LA and the traffic was a little lighter. We jumped off the freeway and used the coast road (Pacific Highway!), top down, music on and breathed in the gorgeous sea air. Yep, we have photos 😊

A few hours later and we were in San Diego!
