Took Karan and my parents to San Diego April 2007. The drive from Phoenix is stark. You drive through a sandy desert and then you drive through mountains that have no vegetation.

We stayed at the Marriot.

The big ticket was Sea-World. We watched the Shamu show and pretty much every single exhibit was special. The bond the trainers had with their proteges was special. You got to see it to understand it.

The Shamu show was specacular - but everything stood out. Its good family entertainment. The folks have a lot of events for children - including diving with the dolphins. There must be a conservationist being created at Seaworld every day.

The city is nice - the weather is pretty special. After Phoenix, every place has pretty special weather.

The old Coronado hotel is interesting. Its old and historic and serves a good cup of chai.
