I didn't actually want to go to Mexico you understand. It's just that there is a large outlet shopping mall right next to the border in San Ysidro and K & me thought we should look for some cheap clothes. Tijuana Trolley So we paid our $5 each for a day transit pass and got on the 'Tijuana Trolley', or Blue Line as the San Diego Metropolitan Transit Authority now call it. From the trolley stop it's a 2 minute walk to the Mexico border. The outlet mall is across the road - except there are no signs telling you how to cross it! So we had an added bonus walking tour of San Ysidro. Great if you want to buy Mexican car insurance, jewellery or underwear (socks appear to be a popular Mexican export in ... read more

A date has been set.. We could have left today, 1/22, but still a few loose ends to take care of and another system of weather is coming to SD, (Thursday), so we are at the Custom's Dock at the end of Shelter Is. until Sun. am. We could leave Sat. am or Sun, am, but will check the weather window to see which would be best. Yep..it's a happening thing... YEAH! (I think !) Plans are to head straight to Cabo San Lucas to check into Mexico, straight bee-line (rhumb line) from the Coronados to the major capes off Baja. Will check in when we stop at Cabo with pics and story Sending love to all friends and family. Jean & Robin... read more

The journey to San Diego was relatively quick, we stopped a few times along the way once for Ben who was still feeling unwell and once for fuel (gas), that was an experience in itself. The hostel at San Diego was very luxurious compared to the LA hostel we had stayed in previous and was set up in such a way as to encourage socialising. We checked in and, in preparation for the overnight camping we had planned, went shopping for camping gas and tents, (after Ben ham-handedly destroyed mine in Australia). The following day we crossed the US boarder into Mexico and Tijuana, the difference was instantly noticeable, shanty town style buildings, crumbling sidewalks and pushy market sellers. After fighting off a barrage of taxi drivers we boarded a bus, where I think the driver ... read more

Last night we saw one of the best bands of the modern age in san diego. Tickets were a bit pricey but you only live once. When it started, at about 12.51 the place errupted. What band was it you ask me (anything)?? Well it's kinda hard to explain. x... read more

Boo!! We wandered back over the mexico-U.S border in a still-quite-drunk-from-last-night-daze-state and are now back staying with our wonderful friends in san diego. It's my birthday today, yayyy! Last night we went out in ensenada to celebrate. Was a night of much margeritas and tequila, which did a good job of ruining me (see other entry). Mexico is a cool place, we made the most of the hot weather and the drink. Spent half the time in ensenada, on the pacific side of the baja peninsula, and the other half in san felipe, on the gulf coast. Grace would like to let her friends know that they will be disowned if they do not send her messages of love and worship through this website. She writes it as well. Bad friends, bad, bad friends. Also, ... read more
