Friday 15th Aug This morning we set off to walk in the Malibu State Park and hike to the site of the M.A.S.H. filming site back in the day. All that was left was an old jeep and remains of a car, not sure how M.A.S.H. liked it looked, but it was a good walk. Next was inline skating along Santa Monica and Venice beach front. As the beach path stretched for 22 miles Gra wasn't too keen to skate for the first time so took a bike, while I skated. It was perfect: a beautiful beach, palm lined path and lots of local characters. After doing a good stretch of the path (about 12 miles) we headed back, stopping at muscle beach for chin ups and people watching!! Later we treated ourselves to a popular, ... read more

I went camping recently and it was gorgeous out! It was cold in the evening, especially sleeping so close to the ground. But that just made the campfire that much better. I love the mountains!... read more

For those that do not know Neetz and I returned on the 5th of October. We apologise for blatantly lying on our last blog by saying we would return on the 26th as originally planned. We decided to cut our trip short 3 months ago when we chose to rent a car and drive 12 000 km across the States and Canada as we did. Our decision was based on the cost of renting a car and also on the length of our trip. After arriving home early we initially surprised my dad, before jumping on another train and heading for Noosa to surprise Neetz's folks. The last part of our trip went as follows. After leaving Vancouver and crossing the border back into the States we headed for Carly's place in Seattle. Thankyou Chris, Romany, ... read more

UntitledGeoff Burt Wandered around the local area the other day. Posted several items back home that we don't need to lug around the rest of the world. After a nice Singapore style meal at a local shopping area - Farmers Market - Geoff lashed out and bought a new Apple laptop - the last of the big purchases for the duration. This morning (Saturday, April 28) after a free brunch by the complex swimming pool we watched Alain & Ange enjoy the water. He really loves splashing around in the pool. Took a short video which we'll attach if able. Drove up the coast quite a distance to a seafood restaurant - Geoffrey's in Malibu. Sitting just across from us ... read more

So today we hit the beaches of Malibu, birthplace of the Mal and Mini-Mal surfboards. Clean waves peeling out across the Bay (and that's only one of the beaches) enticed Alex, and we surfer-watched for quite a while, while eating lunch. I am sick of making sandwiches on a teeny plate in the car!! (Mum I have nothing but admiration for the millions you must have made!) I persueded Alex (not that it took much) to hire a board and surf Malibu Lagoon, but unfortunately the only hire shop (not a patch on Newquay!!!) was closed, as we presume the owner was on a long ride break. Apparently it's been flat here for weeks so who blames him. We eyed up a few boards on car roofs, but decided stealing was perhaps not very friendly, so ... read more

En ... read more

1st April - 2nd Aril 2006 This trip was as instantaneous as it could get. We decided it on Friday eve 6:00 pm and we left on Saturday morning. :-) And probably it was our first camping trip on a normal weekend. Morro Bay is along the Central California coast. Some 200 miles from bay, the area involves 2 -3 hours of drive. We wanted to reach early. So we took the less scenic hwy 101 down to Morro Bay. We knew instantly, it had to be Morro bay as we saw the larger than life Morro Rock. After finding our way to Morro Bay State Park, we found a campsite under the Eucalyptus trees. The park itself is one of a kind. I could see the bay from our tent. Just a 2-3 minute walk. ... read more
