Nick was up really early today as he thought he had booked a tour of the Grand Canyon. As it turned out he didn’t so went back to bed.
Later, Marnee and I got up, packed up our bags and checked-out, leaving our bags with the concierge. From there, we headed down to the NY NY Hotel as we wanted to go on the Rollercoaster there, because clearly we hadn’t been on enough during this trip. We went on the coaster and managed the front row and it was amazing.
After the ride we went in search of a bag to put all our excess shopping in. We went to a discount store called Ross which is kind of like Trade Secret in Australia. We did a little searching, Marnee bought a few things, but no bag for our things. On the way back to the hotel though, we found a little gift shop that had a bag we figured would do.
So we headed back to the hotel and got our bags from concierge so we could rearrange them. Nick joined us when we finished packing and we jumped in a cab to the airport for our 2:35pm flight with Virgin America to Los Angeles.
On arrival in LA we jumped on the bus to Union Station and then on the train to Hollywood for our last night in the USA. Seems how it was our last night we had shouted ourselves one night at the infamous Roosevelt Hotel.
The Roosevelt Hotel is an upscale hotel dating back to 1927. The suites are named after famous former residents such as Marilyn Monroe. It’s rumoured that the hotel is haunted so we were hoping for a scare.
We checked-in and made our way up to our very pretty room. It wasn’t overly large but it was clean, the beds were fantastic and it was 1000 times better than the hostel down the road that we stayed in on our first night in LA.
It was already fairly late so we decided to get showered and read and head across the road to the shopping centre to get Johnny Rockets for dinner. We finished off with a hot chocolate at Ghirardelli. Then it was time for our organised club crawl so we jumped in cab to head to a bar called St Felix Hollywood as this was the meeting point. We got there, got wrist bands and bought some drinks. The crowd was pretty average but we went along with it. From there the group walked to, of all places, Lure Nightclub, where we also went on our first night out in LA. At least this time we got a free drink. We danced for a while before we kind of lost the group so decided that those of us who were still there would head to where we thought the group was heading next… But they weren’t so we ended up just going to another club along Hollywood Blvd. It was a pretty cool little place, the music was good and one of the other girls shouted us a few shots so we went with it. We danced for ages before Marnee had enough and we walked back up Hollywood Blvd to the hotel. I got changed and took off my makeup then Marnee decided she wanted to go and check out the memorial around Robin Williams’ star as he had tragically passed away a few days earlier. While down there she got us a pizza slice each; these were huge, like two slices took up a whole pizza box. It was just what I needed though to soak up some of the shots. I do believe I fell asleep pretty much straight after that.
