Downtown LA 261007
Example of LA protest. They even make this into a show / carnival Los Angeles. 26th October 2007
Woke up with poorly poorly head. All the girls found my late night antics (attempts to get into bed) and my current state of mind very amusing. Not as warm and bit cloudy today.
Persuaded one of my room mates, Fabienne a girl from Switzerland who i met last night to come for breakfast to Swingers with me. Had lots and lots of water and coffee. Got invited to spend the day with Fabienne and a couple of german guys (Miie and Andy) she met yesterday - Plan is to go downtown LA. Mike has been in LA a long time and is into photography and also film making. Andy has just comer over and is Mikes assistant and is also in the film Mike is currently making. 2 very funny, friendly cool guys.
Went back to Hollywood Boulevard on the bus and took the underground to downtown LA. Good job Mike and Andy were there cos me and Fabienne didnt have a clue what we were doing lol. Got painfully dragged around the shops for an hour or so whilst Fabienne found a hat for her brother and herself. To be honest

Fabienne, Andy, and Mike and ME having lunch in Chinatown i didnt mind as it was good to get amongst all the Local LA people and we were all having a laugh and been daft. Saw this big protest against President Bush, war in iraq, racism - about all sorts of stuff really. Its totally crazy though as even the protests in LA are like a joke cos they make it into such a big party or carnival - people are dressed up and singing and dancing in the street....very funny. There was one girl who ran out into the march to greet another girl friend and the girl who was running jump into her friend to give her a big hug and they both went flying to the floor and ended up on their backs and hugging the concrete....very funny lol.
Went to Chinatown for some lunch. Ordered a seafood soup. The biggest dam bowl of soup ive ever seen. (see pic). It was very nice though had all sorts in it, squid, shrimp, octopus, muscles, oysters....no way could i eat it all though. Apparently in China is is custom to slurp your soup as a sign of appreciation (So mike informed us). We decided we'd all show

Biggest bowl of soup ive ever seen!!!!!!!!!! our appreciation by slurpping all together using not the normal soup spoon but the big ladel spoon. We did this massive slurp and everyone in the restaurant turned around....many in disgust! But we laughed our head off and found it very funny.
Got back to hostel 5 ish. Missed football game (hostel Vs Mexico) i wanted to play in...not happy! Got invited out for a meal with fabienne and some of her friends who live in LA - mor than happy to accept. Got picked up by her friends (all seem very nice and friendy). Went to this nice little restaurant out of town a bit (20 min drive or so). Really looking forward to a nice bottle of wine to perk me up a bit (still suffering from previous nights session). To my horror we were at a all natural organic healthy restaurant - that meant no alcohol!!! Just water or some ginger or tropical fruit shit! Even the menu had no normal stuff on like meat, fish, dairy etc. All organic fruit and grains. Didnt have started as still pretty full from Chinese. Had a pizza for main but trust me it wasnt any normal pizza -
it was okay..ish and i ate it. Missing my wine!!!!!!!! Another lady turned up and joined us and she had the most irritating squeaky voice in the world and she said awesome every second or third word. Sometimes she'd say awesome awesome several times at once!!! I seriously wanted to gag her. But she was nice and friendly too in an annoying way. Had a banana split with ice cream for dessert - but the icecream wasnt dairy - tasted very strange. Fell asleep in the car on the way back as very tired and still suffering.
Fabienne leaving tonight so Mike and Myself agreed to stay up with her until she got picked up at 4am to go to airport. Had my first drink when got to hostel (strawberry vodka) - watched pirates of caribbean. Managed to stay up until 3am. Said goodbye to Fab, and promised to keep in touch. been invited over to Switzerland next winter so she can give me some snow boarding lessons and ive promised to take up offer. Looking forward to it already!
