Free brekkie at our hotel which is cool - just go up and get whatever you want. So they provided our toast - I provided our Vegemite (Y).
Headed off to Disney's California Adventure Park at around 9.30 or so.
Throughout the day we saw plenty of different characters, but took photos with Mickey (twice, once in a California style shirt, second in a fantasia outfit), Goofy, the Incredibles, and Sully from Monster's Inc,
We also went on a few rides including California Screamin', the Big wheel (which had either swinging or non-swinging gondolas), Grizzly River Run (got very wet!) and also the Hollywood Tower Hotel, a giant drop kind of ride with a storyline - based on the Twilight Zone. So basically you're in a lift in the hotel that goes up and down really fast, and at points you see the rest of the park from the top of the tower. I didn't want to go on it, but went inside with the others and before i knew it i was sitting down strapped in! And i had so much fun on it I went on a second time later that day =P
Also went on Monster's Inc and Toy story rides, the latter had a talking Mr. Potato Head out the front. He talked and was so realistic the way he moved and whatnot... It was amazing!
There was a whole lot of walk through feature exhibit things, one of which had a making of Toy Story, where they showed how the animations were done.
We saw two 3D movie experiences, Muppet Vision 3D, and A bug's life one. 3D here isn't just pictures jumping out - you get sprayed with water and air and feel real bugs crawling under you and what not. So the Muppet one was fine, really good. A bug's life... not so much... I was almost in tears it was so traumatising!!
Somewhere in the middle of the day we decided to leave the park for a break. We walked through the Grand California Hotel which is massive and gorgeous - and very well air-conditioned!
We went into Downtown Disney and had a look at the Disney store which was huge. I was more intrigued with the Statues rather than the souvenirs!
We went back into the park and saw the first parade which included characters from Cars, Monster's Inc, the Incredible's, Rattatouie, Finding Nemo, A Bug's Life and Toy Story. The all squirted water and bubbles into the crowd.
A few more rides later and we watched the second parade - the Electrical Parade. This was all about the lights and it was amazing. Featuring a train driven by Goofy with Mickey and Minnie in the carriages, Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, it ended with a float of an American flag with a bald eagle at the end, with the words “To Honor America” written at the front. A little Cheesy, but that's the US for ya!
This park closed at 9pm, whilst Disneyland itself stays open until midnight, so we decided to go into Disneyland for a little bit. We agreed to go on one ride and it was the one i was bugging everyone about - the Pirate's of the Carribean. It was a little disappointing. You just sit in a little boat and go through and watch all the mechanical pirates and so on, but we still saw Johnny 😉
Headed home and ordered pizza for an extremely late dinner!! Found out a Contiki person was in a room a couple of doors down from us so we went to say a quick hi, then went to bed!
