I thought I was going to have a mutiny on my hands this morning. No one would get out of bed. I could hardly get out of bed after the big day yesterday. Brendan kept telling me how he was over it. I don’t need this right now. Let’s just go through the motions for the kid’s sake and get it and done with. I’m not so sure that we are supposed to be feeling like this at the happiest place on earth, but we are.
Our despair brought on by excessive tiredness was instantly forgotten when after we entered the gates our early bird status paid off when we saw Mickey Mouse come out of nowhere with absolutely no one mobbing him for pictures! This was our big chance to be photographed with the legend without having to wait in a massive queue.
I was disappointed that Indiana Jones wasn’t working as it was the first and second thing on our Ridemax list. So headed to Pirates of the Caribbean ride ahead of schedule and virtually no one there. It was tame in terms of thrills but the experience of the special effects is worth it. We then
headed off to do the Haunted House which was very lame so as not to totally scare the little kids I suppose. During the scheduled break period we did things like go on the Mark Twain paddle steamer and steamed around Tom Sawyer Island.
We decided to leave the park at about 3pm for a bit of a nanna nap as we were so tired, as well as start packing to put our stuff into storage before we leave for the park again, but we got side tracked as Bobby wanted to go on the railroad around the whole park. We did a few more rides before waiting an hour and half on the pavement outside Sleeping Beauty’s Castle before the fireworks begin. That was a bit of a shit fight and no where nearly as organised as the world of colour at DCA. Anyway, after spending an hour and half of wondering if it was worth it, I have to say that it was. It was beautifully done over the lit up castle and they used techniques I have never seen and they even threw in tinkerbell and dumbo flying over head, I still don’t know if this
was real or done by lasers. So the little kids would’ve thought they’d died and gone to heaven. On the way back once again we all got stuck in the gift shop and bought last minute gifts. Disney has the most amazing plethora of gift shops. For a start there are the general ones selling Disney merchanise, then there are all the gift shops after you have been on a ride that sell even more specialised merchandise like a star wars money box or mickey ears. There is even a shop selling parisoles in the New Orlean quarters. A person is actually standing there all day waiting for people to buy parisoles!!
Everyone is so pleasant and cheery here. All the park employees know the answers to every question, full of advice, firm but friendly with the not so nice people (not there were hardly any of them), and full of small talk.
