Wahweap of our favorite campgrounds in the world to camp and chill, especially when we want to go out at night and socialize. The views are spectacular, we can plug in if the weather gets drastically cold or hot, the Lake Powell Resort with its beautiful bar and restaurant is nearby, We can launch our kayak from here, ride out bikes on maintained trails, etc. We rarely ever spend more than a few nights, but always seem to enjoy them.

A good reason to travel there around Thanksgiving (late Nov.) is that the wind is generally calm. At other times of year it can be roaring, making it dangerous for paddlers.

Both last year and this year we were greeted with fall colors in the irrigated campsite. Though the trees would probably not be there if not, they are quite lovely to see.

Of course Glen Canyon Damn/Lake Powell was hugely protested against at its inception and should be drained an the Colorado River allowed to return to its natural state. Until that day, we will continue to paddle there because few places in the world are this beautiful.
