We had been told that Lake Powell was well worth a visit and, as Steve, Jo, Tom and Ollie have the name, we ought to visit their Lake. We have booked in for 3 days. We sorted our life out - laundry/car wash/shopping etc. The best part was definitely buying my (Kate speaking) new cowboy boots and wearing them for an evening at the local steak house - they are so woonnderffffullll. Enough of that……… Yesterday we headed up Antelope Creek without a paddle… …but we did have a lovely picnic and a bottle of Sparkly!! It was a beautiful sunny day so we hired a small motor boat and set off for a 4 hour trip on Lake Powell (Steve’s Lake). We cruised down through amazing colourful craggy canyons in crystal blue water with the ... read more

Hi! We made it to the Grand Canyon. We stayed near Zion again last night, in the town of Springdale. It's a nice little town with a good coffee shop. There aren't any chain restaurants or fast food in the town, which is unusual for this area. This morning we drove from Zion to Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam and on to Grand Canyon. We stopped at Horseshoe Point and hiked out to the river. It was a great day to be travelling, the weather is nice - high 60's - but still a little cold at night. Tonight we are staying near the Grand Canyon in Tusayan, AZ. We'll hike in the Grand Canyon tomorrow. We drove by it and it's HUGE. ... read more

Lake Powell & Glen Canyon Dam Once we had made the decision to head for home, it was all go! All of a sudden we had to have everything arranged for the rest of the trip in just a couple of weeks. We were glued to our computer screens in the computer room for hours on end trying to arrange accommodation and flights. The SUV and trailer sold quickly (which was a relief)! We sold our trailer on ebay to a guy in Colorado and as part of the deal we had to meet him ½ way in Tuba City (Northern AZ). This meant we were on the road again! We took the opportunity to see a couple of things we had missed as we came down south to Phoenix the first time. After a sad ... read more

Today I drove another group of lucky buggers to Page for a rafting trip. But then I continued on to Lake Powell and made a lucky bugger of myself! It is so nice there! White sandy beaches, warm blue water and sunshine! Just what I needed to make a few hours seem like a few minutes. I went to Lone Rock Beach, within the Lake Powell National Recreation Area. Lone Rock is named after the... ahem... lone rock pictured. Kim Jon Il was sitting on top singing "I'm so rone-RY!" I was amazed by the water here. After seeing nothing but the muddy, freezing cold Colorado for the last six months I seriously felt like I was in Bora Cay when I got to the beach. Well, I don't have a whole lot to say, so ... read more
