Heber - August 4, 2008. A 101 in Phoenix and 51 up in Heber. All that in 2 and a half hours. Drive up the Beeline Highway into Payson. Head right on the 260 and keep going up the hills for some of the most beautiful country you'll ever see. The road winds through creeks, lakes and mountains. Heber is located close to the Mogollan Rim. This trip is scenic, a photographers dream. WAtch for cops - I picked up a speeding ticket. The Rim is an escarpment defining the southwestern edge of the Colorado Plateau, and along its central and most spectacular portions is characterized by high limestone and sandstone cliffs.
