Heber - August 4, 2008. A 101 in Phoenix and 51 up in Heber. All that in 2 and a half hours.

Drive up the Beeline Highway into Payson. Head right on the 260 and keep going up the hills for some of the most beautiful country you'll ever see. The road winds through creeks, lakes and mountains. Heber is located close to the Mogollan Rim. This trip is scenic, a photographers dream. WAtch for cops - I picked up a speeding ticket.

The Rim is an escarpment defining the southwestern edge of the Colorado Plateau, and along its central and most spectacular portions is characterized by high limestone and sandstone cliffs. It was formed by erosion and faulting, and dramatic canyons have been cut into it, including Fossil Creek Canyon, and Pine Canyon.

We stayed at the Bison Ranch. Look up cabin fever 😊 Renting a log cabin beats staying in a hotel. There are plenty of good places to stay at including the one we stayed at. www.resortcabin.com

Plenty of activities to do - hiking, fishing and just doing nothing. A lot of the lakes and ponds are catch and release.

We visited Woods Canyon lake and the hike along the rim is beautiful.
