Well the 'holidays' are upon us and we have a visitor for a few days. Nicola (Rupert's wife) has been staying with us since Tuesday. Nic came over to work in California for a few days and flew in to see us for 4 days. She flies home to England this Saturday.
So whilst Nic has been here we took a trip up to Sedona and went for a hike. The weather was perfect, about 70f/21c, and beautiful blue skies. For regular readers of this blog, I don't have to talk too much about Sedona as we have been up there a few times. Read some of the old entries if you want to know more about the place. We had a great day as the pictures demonstrate, finished off with a steak at the Pinnacle Peak Patio in Norrth Scottsdale - our favorite steakhouse to take visitors! Healthy appetites following a nice walk in the sunshine...
Thursday was Thanksgiving and we spent the day at Clare & Matt's house with Al & Sheila (my aunt & uncle) and Matt's family - there were 13 of us for a lovely turkey dinner! It was nice to see everyone and
we think Nic enjoyed her first Thanksgiving! We sat outside and ate; beautiful to be sat outside in late November enjoying warm sunshine...get's chilly quickly when the sun goes down though!
Today (Friday) the girls went off to a yoga class at our Gym, followed by a massage and then some relaxation at the spa (Sauna/Steam room/Jacuzzi/Swim). Then this afternoon we put up the Christmas tree. Over here, Thanksgiving is the official start to the holidays, so lights and trees are going up around us! We decided that as Christmas is going to be taken up with packing down the house for the move, we might as well put the tree up early as it will have to come down early!!
Nic leaves us tomorrow; so a bit of shopping in the morning before her flight tomorrow evening. Lovely to see her; Ginnie has especially enjoyed spending time with one of her best friends from England - hopefully Nic will be back in February when she comes back to San Diego for work again. Maybe this time we can persuade her husband to come out and join her for a visit!
Our main news since our return
from the UK is that Clare has sold this house; so we have to move out December 31st. Happy New Year! Consequently we have been busy searching for a new home for the last few weeks. We are looking for a place to buy. We have got a great deal on a mortgage, especially given the current mortgage climate in the US, but as we have only been working for ourselves for a year, we have to wait for the end of the tax year and present our tax records as proof of income. So we won't get mortgage approval until the end of January. So we are hoping to find a place that is empty, make an offer and if they accept try and rent it for a month until we can close the deal. We've seen some nice places, but there are so many on the market that we just keep looking for the perfect place!! So we will have to see where we end up! We'll keep you posted! If anybody has $200,000 they can lend us please let us know! We're not sure what we'll do if the place we want isn't empty, but we'll cross
that bridge when we come to it!!
So that's it for the latest update - we'll let you know what happens with the house hunting!
Love to all! Party on and enjoy the Holidays!
