We are at The Palms RV Golf Resort for a month in Casa Grande, AZ. It features an beautiful, palm laden eighteen hole executive golf course. We don’t play golf, but as we walk about the resort, we are treated to spacious views of the course.

I’ve discovered lawn bowling; one of the many featured activates at the resort. I’ve completed a two day orientation and an lawn bowling emblem has been affixed to my picture ID badge. I have access to the manicured bowling green for practice and tournament play.

Last week, we took our pup Shaddy to the local vet for a follow up checkup; blood pressure check and urine test. His numbers are improving after being on a special non-protein, prescription diet. Before we left home for our snowbirding trip, he was diagnosed with early signs of kidney failure and high blood pressure. He does not like his new diet, and is very disappointed that he no longer gets any table scraps from his da’. His lab results were faxed to his home vet.

Next week, we will enjoy a visit with friends from back home who are flying to Phoenix for a week at their time share.

During our first week in Casa Grande, it was unseasonably cold and wet. This week, the weather is improving and getting a bit warmer. A propane tank for the rig’s heater lasts about a week. We will have the empty refilled today while Shaddy is gussied up at the groomer.

The Trail Boss enjoys her exercise classed in the heated pool, and has signed up for some kind of stained glass workshop.

This year, we are using Skype to keep in touch with family and friends, being careful not to over do it. We also are using a Virgin Mobile MiFi card for Internet connection. We can both get on the ‘net at the same time, and have unlimited time and data capacity for a monthly fee; no annual fee or contract.

Goodlooking
Hey Paddy, Great photos! Highlights the summary/commentary. Hope Shaddy's health continues to improve. That lawn bowling looks like great fun. Having a normal warm day sounds great too. The weather in Seattle/Redmond has been quite lousy. Ice and below 20's last week. Rain and a threat of some snow this weekend. My golf game is going well by simply not playing. I refuse to give the course more strokes than usual (14). My clubs are cleaned and ready for 60 degrees. I am enjoying the pace of retirement (very slow and easy). Best wishes on your continued 'happy trails'. ...Tom

Howdy!
Hey pardner, glad your having a good time, sounds like a nice place to winter over. Seems your getting some colorful sunsets. Tell the Trail Boss howdy, too, and give Shad a pat on the head for me....be well. And thanks for sharing.

Good to Hear from Ye
Glad the weather is improving down there. Good to know that Shaddy seems to be doing OK even if he pouts when he can't have his banana treat. Things at the homestead are good - no more wind storms, but pretty cold last week. We turned water on in the house so your pipes wouldn't freeze. Lows in the low teens and highs in the 20s...but we're moving towards spring! Have fun and we'll see you when the thaw comes!

The good life!!!
Hi Pat: Always good to hear from you and see the life of luxury at the Palms. I suspect you soon will be a pro at lawn bowling and cover some of your travel expenses. Not too late for you to take up golf and enjoy the beautiful courses----had a note from Allie and she is ready now for "Pick ' em". Nancy advised us of her birthday, and I'm sure you came up with something special for the occasion. Keep me on the "travel list". Tom

You look like a Pro...
Wow, that is some form you have there...the old finger pointing technique, still being taught heh! Italians (I am one, so I can say this with impunity) have many secrets to success in bocci ball, er lawn bowling...one I can share publicly; don't play on an empty stomach! You never know....And yes, wine counts as a food. Cheers, John

Shaddy
Poor Shaddy but good he has two that loves him. Peaches just reluctantly got her toenails cut and on a sunny day prances around like she's 6 instead of 16. Peasches has become my favorite puppy. Lawn bowling is a great sport and stained glass making is such a fun craft. I have sold or given away all my pieces but still keep the tools. Your trip sounds wonderful and shows by all the photos. Have fun in Phoenix. Claudia and I were planning a trip to a little town near Tucson but my 'Carlo got crunched and it is now in the shop.....Julia & Claudia
