Well Here we are, I had a Unexpected Surprise that has me starting my travel blog a week late. Befor the trip I read on the cruise ships information page that WiFi woulf be available onboard, but I apparently didnt read the fine print. It was at a cost of .75 per minute and was also informed that the connection speeds at sea were very slow, so I had to make the choice of spendig all of my T-shirt money to keep you all informed or delay this blog one week, I must say I have a great collection of new T-shirts!!!! It was a pretty uneventful relaxing couple of days, Just waiting to reach land and get this photo journey started... read more

Well after a couple of day's rest and relaxation, I was ready to shoot anything, and the captain didn't dissapoint me . I was a chilly 56deg's outside and the sun was bright and sunny The Images below are from the Tracy Arm Fjord in Alaska Nestled between 3,000-foot high granite walls, the narrow, twisting slice of ocean called Tracy Arm Fjord weaves through the Tongass National Forest for roughly 35 miles. The shoreline is spotted with waterfalls created by melting snowcaps and trees sprouting at odd angles from rocky outcroppings. The images don't hardly show the enourmous size of the mountains, I sat on my balcony the entire trip and just took pictures. It's totally Breath taking in person. **** Please click on the imges to see them larger **** ... read more

Eurkea (yo̵o rē′kə) I've got it; yes; that's it: used to express triumphant achievement, success, or discovery July 09, 2010. Hello again from Prince Rupert. We are spending another day in Prince Rupert as we wait for the Alaskan Marine Highway Ferry to take us to Ketchikan Alaska. While on the ferry last night we found a hostel in Prince Rupert called the Pioneer Hostel. We docked at about 7:30 am, called the hostel and they have a bed for us and are open all day so we can arrive at anytime. We went to Timmy's for some tasty, strong hot coffee and a yummy sausage breakfast sandwich. (I really think I could eat those things every morning, but someone ruined things for me and told me how many calories are in one. YIKES). Got to ... read more

In July of 2006 we joined several of my husband’s cousins on the Carnival Spirit for an Alaskan cruise. What a great trip! Once again we failed to click that button on our cameras many many times as we were in absolute awe of what we were seeing. An Alaskan cruise is something everyone should experience so they can truly appreciate nature and our country. This was our first cruise, to anywhere and it was worth every single penny. No one in our group had been to Alaska before so it was going to be a new adventure for everyone in our group. Each day was amazing and starting each day’s adventure by sharing breakfast with people we have known and loved for years made our cruise so much more fun.. We even had special ‘neon ... read more

Many people have strong beliefs in the symbolism of numbers. For instance there were a record number of marriages in Las Vegas on 09/09/09. Since we are already married we opted to begin a cruise on that auspicious day. We hope it bodes well for a great 102 day journey. After a fine summer of being with family and friends we decided what better way to continue meeting up with the rest of my siblings that via ship. We bid farewell to Judy and left our car with her and plan to see my brother Steven in Auckland in late November courtesy of Regent. So this year we will have visited all ten of my brothers and sisters and four of Kevin's family. The day after Labor Day we got up at 5am, secured our boat, ... read more

Surprise! Alan and I are back on a ship again. This time, we're cruising on Regent Seven Seas Mariner url=http://myitchytravelfeet.com/2009/09/09/cruising-vancouver-to-singapore-regent-seven-seas-mariner/ starting in Vancouver and ending in Singapore . In case you didn't count up the days, there are 52 of them (excluding crossing the International Date Line). Today, we're cruising the Inside Passage on our way to Alaskan ports. The sun is shining and we're pleasantly surprised that it's warm and sunny enough to enjoy breakfast on the back deck of La Veranda. As we sip coffee, heavily forested islands slip by. And, the sea is so smooth that it feels like Mariner is sailing on glass. Yesterday, we flew from Tucson to Vancouver, keeping our fingers crossed that we'd make it to the ship on time. We were among the last to check in. A ... read more

It has now been a week since we left Whitehorse. On the 29th of Dec we got up early, swept the snow out of the truck and from off of and between the motorcycles, loaded gear, then to Skagway to catch the ferry. Way too much good food and beer - that would be burger, fish and fries with double chocolate stout and spruce tip ale at the Alaska Brewing Company. (Sorry if I get wordy on the food aspects of our trip - I am a frustrated restaurant reviewer). Weather: Cold -30C leaving Whse, -17F in Skagway with a biting wind. On the ferry - Alaska Marine Highway System - M/V Malaspina we went to be so early the first night, I was awake and roaming the ship at 5 a.m. Really a relaxing trip. ... read more

Although this is certainly not Two Years Before the Mast, I’ll be quite ready to get off this boat tomorrow. The ferry ride has certainly been very comfortable, too comfortable even. This thing has internet, which I’ll admit is fairly awesome. It is not the fastest connection, but it is better than any connection I’ve experienced on much larger, luxuriously appointed cruise ships. We've had a nice dry spot to sleep, open air, under heat lamps. The weather has been great with the exception of a rainy night in Ketchikan. Instead of getting off in Prince Rupert we decided to switch boats in Ketchikan as to avoid any more time in Canada all together. It took some whining, and 15 minutes of driving rain to convince Stevens that sleeping in a tent would be a good ... read more
