Today we sailed around Glacier Bay. We went to a glacier one mile wide. Crazy. And 250 feet high. This one was doing some loud calving which was really rather exciting. Then we went to an area that had a stream flowing into the sea where we might be able to see bears. We did see one. Well, some of us saw some of him…his rear end. We saw some deer, more goats and bald eagles. Then we sailed for Sitka. A rather calm day on the boat. I felt like I was on vacation!

I can't remember the name of the glacier. Sigh.

The striations in the ice are from the glacier scraping the sides of the mountains as it recedes.
