The striations in the ice are from the glacier scraping the sides of the mountains as it recedes.
Glacier Bay

Today we sailed around Glacier Bay. We went to a glacier one mile wide. Crazy. And 250 feet high. This one was doing some loud calving which was really rather exciting.
