Halibut, salmon, shrimp and fries Spent the afternoon outside the park. Drove about a mile outside of the park on the Parks Highway and had lunch at the Alaskan Fish and Chip shop. Good little business and the food was fresh and very tasty.
Had a walk around the shops in the area and treated ourselves to some homemade fudge. Geoff also found a Harley Davidson store and got a pack of T shirts from all the Harley Davidson outlets in Alaska...he was happy!
Went for a drive along the highway and saw some amazing scenery (we didn't think it could get any better but it does). Stopped to admire the views of the Nenana River and walked along a couple of trails to take in the scenery. We walked under the bridge and got some great shots. Later in the day we were to river raft right under this bridge!
At 5.30pm we were booked in for a Canyon River Raft At the McKinley Chalets. After checking in we were given our wet weather gear for the trip. So much to wear I could hardly walk. Felt like the Michelin Man!
The 2 hour trip down the Nenana River went through

Windy Bridge on the Parks highway Gorges and Canyons and level 3 and 4whitewater. Just as well we we dressed for the occasion as water came flying into the raft on a frequent basis. Our guide was Pat - he was hilarious and full of interesting information as well as a few tall tales.
Has been a great day. The weather stayed fine for the day but not a lot of sun throughout the day. It was quite a cold day and we think it will be a very cold night.
