Charming, quaint pueblos north of Puerto Vallarta perch between thick jungle and ocean waves with sandy beaches stretching for miles. Hidden coves, dramatic headlands, rolling hills heavy with vegetation--this is a beautiful area of the Mexican coast. There's still lots of gringos, but it's maintained some individuality too.

replaces smelly fishing shacks and a terribly run down waterfront. Now it's an inviting place for a stroll or a picnic.

This is the Malecón in La Peñita, not Puerto Vallarta. Bob and Donna brought us here for Thursday market, a really well done market --I was lucky to escape with my skin. I wanted everything I saw!

They grill these fish over a flame to sell on the beach.

I bought a colorful mask from a vendor on the beach and had no where to hang it, so we hung it on our porch light. I love it!
