Hey all, Well, here is my second blog. I have made it to Oaxaca, but have yet to get in touch with my host family. That is because I barely managed to get myself onto the bus to Oaxaca yesterday. I thought that I had an amazing plan to go to the bus station to shop around for the best price to Oaxaca. Well, the cheapest bus was leaving in 3 1/2 hours so that barely gave me time to make it over to the Frida Kahlo house. The metro there seemed to stop at every station for a good five minutes. It was really annoying. Then of course I had to figure out how to get there from the metro stop--the maps in the book seem to be difficult to orient or maybe I´ve just ... read more

Huatulco, Oaxaca, Mexico 21:00 It just looks like that today my biggest dreams will come true. In the morning I found somebody here in Huatulco who was so enthusiastic over my journey, that decided to help me create a presentational webpage in 3 languages. What I hope is, to create a webpage in many languages and also find people who would translate the page and the reports. - Se parece que hoy se cumplirán mis sueños que los tengo en los últimos 7 meses. Huatulco, Oaxaca, Mexico 23:00 Today I made a decision. I decided to share everything what I know, have and do with you guys. I decided to start writing a daily diary in a blog. I want to share with you the best and the worst of me. You can’t imagine how many interesting things I experience on a daily bases and it would just be so selfish to keep it all for me. I’ve been writing monthly or weekly reports for almost a year, but I feel they are not and cannot be the real reflexion of me and my journey. From now on I wish to share moments that I feel happy and moments that I feel sad. I want to tell you about moments of fears and frustrations and about moments of highest happiness. ... read more

Huatulco, Oaxaca, México 21:00 We spent a wonderful week of Oaxaca together. I believe it was one of the most marvelous weeks of my whole travel. Today she left me. She is going back home and I continue my journey south. I wrote a longer report in Spanish and Slovene.

"All that glitters isn't gold." My days in Oaxaca, a city whose colonial architecture, art-filled parks, floral courtyards, lively plazas, colorful shopfronts, extraordinary cathedrals, historical artifacts, and purely delicious cuisine beckon you to explore its wonders, have proven one of the key truths in travel: it is the people where you travel that make or break the experience. For no matter how fascinatingly gorgeous or culturally rich a place is, it will never win first prize in your list of travel greats if you feel you have been swindled, attacked, or otherwise mistreated. My first impressions of the city, having arrived at 6 in the morning and being blessed with the rare opportunity to watch the city slowly rise from its quiet slumber, were quite memorable. This was obviously a city that valued its private morning ... read more

Like two knights dueling for the hand of a fair maiden, so has Sir Mexico risen to battle for the affection I so recently declared for Guatemala. From the first real encounter with Mexico, at the bus station in Tapachula, I should have realized I had just entered completely different territory, as the terminal was clean, orderly, computerized, efficient, and had toilet paper and soap in the bathrooms. However, after surviving a nail-biting journey to get there .... fights breaking out on the bus to Tecun Uman, warnings about the danger of crossing the border at that hour, missing the last bus to Tapachula and being stopped 3 times by armed police on my solitary taxi ride in the dark .... I wasn't really in the analytical frame of mind. I got to the bus station ... read more

I think its been four nights here in Puerto Escondido. We've watched the hostel shalom fill with estudiantes Mexicano, para vacaciones semana santa. Easter week is their spring break. My head has been going in funny directions lately, for a number of reasons. One is surfing, spending hours floating around on a board, waiting for waves, bobbing, not talking, sitting here I can feel a slight ebb and flow, and sometimes I think I could talk about how it feels to surf for the rest of my life. For two, I might be sick of the beach. There's not much to do here besides the beach, so I'm constantly preoccupied with whether or not I should be leaving here, when? Tomorrow? Next wednesday? Yesterday I was more spaced out than today. I'll be comfortable staying here ... read more
