The last few weeks has been super eventful...my emails are coming in less in less due to the mounds of school work that I have to do, and of all the extra curricular activities of drinking! haha!! No, but I DO have to try out every taquila here before I leave so Im starting early. Here in Guadalajara we got the visit of Sub comendente Marcos....the leader of the revolutionary group of the Zapatistas. He was really interesting to see...more for the popular point of it cuz he talked more in medaphores so it was hard to get the ... read more

Hey peps!! I hope you are all doing!! We're hanging strong with all this warmth!! haha!! Its beautiful in Guadalajara but just a bit too polluted for my liking...people hang out on the side of the roads wearing those SARS masks which is kinda freaky. School is going well, but god diggady damn theres tons a reading to do...and my brain is busting neurons! So far we've been trying to go away for the weekends but we've only managed to go to the beach once and hopefully this weekend we will head to the mountains to see the monarc butterflies....its suppose to be amazing!! And we've watched loads of soccer...I LOVE it!! so much fun!! The games are full with loads of embiance!! Other then that integrating into the mexicain culture has not been as ... read more

Here are the highlights of the last 2 weeks: I experienced my first Zapatista protest, it was very tranquil and i am learning a lot about the movement and its goals its very interesting.

Hello!!! I hope everything is going well for all of you where ever you might be around the world. Here in Mexico everything is hot and spicy!! I love it! School is starting this week and for the first time in a long time Im actually pumped! Guadalajara is a beautiful city...full of mexican spirit and tradition. We arrived a week and a half ago and like most people when arriving to a new place we meet all the canadians and americans so far in town. On top of it, we live in a apartement where most of the people from Canada...say hello to intergration in the new country..nope. But we just needed a place to start off in and to feel some security to begin with, expecially with Ben Harper getting elected, being with other Canadians ... read more

Que Onda? Mexico is still going great and this next segment is about my recent trip to Guadalajara. The city of Guadalajara is huge there are some 7 million folks there with malls, cars, clubs, fast food, pimps, bums, and stoplights just like any big U.S. city. Guadalajara is home to Tequila and Mariachi music. We traveled by bus, which is the easiest way to travel here in México. The bus tickets only ran $23 each and the ride itself was only 4 hours from Guanajuanto. In addition to the ride being cheap, it included a small sack lunch and they showed movies (Man on Fire and Spiderman 2) Once in the city of Guadalajara, I instantly felt at home, well with the exception that we were like the only black people and everyone spoke Spanish, ... read more
