Alle folk er ... read more

Greenland 4. january - 31/3. 2010 Blog #1 Finally I began again, Travel is my passion and my main addiction, I need to live different places. If not im getting sad and get withdrawals. Travel is self-prescribed anti-depressant. I finished my education 1 year ago - and I could proud call myself male registered nurse! Not that I really care much about gender. But sometimes I think it is an advantage to be a man in a woman work zone. Wonder if it had something to say, when I got this new job so fast. Felt tragic in November 2009. 5 years in Denmark was beyond me - with only small holidays in between. I behaved stupid (self-destructive?) and felt close to mental breakdown. Greenland is a former colony of Denmark- and they still get massive ... read more

Even though I only spent three and a half days in Greenland, I am in love. I arrived at the airport early Monday morning, groggy but excited, only to find out that our 0915 flight to Kangerlussuaq has been delayed six hours. An ominous start to the trip, yes, but I spent that time productively, befriending some classmates and spending the meal vouchers the airport gave us. Long story short, our flight was cancelled to due technical problems with the one plane that Air Greenland owns for flights between Kangerlussuaq and Copenhagen. Kangerlussuaq is the largest airport in Greenland, and the only point of entry by air. There is only one flight between Copenhagen and Kangerlussuaq everyday, and the airport is the only reason Kangerlussuaq exists. The original airstrip was built by the USA, and the ... read more

I just got back from GREENLAND! If i could describe Greenland in a few words, they would be: snowy, cold, and rather barren. The trip was really eventful, starting with day one. I woke up with a really sore throat. Our flight was supposed to depart from Copenhagen at 9:30am on Monday. When all 30 of us arrived at the airport at 7:30 to check in, they told us the flight was to be delayed until 2pm due to mechanical issues with the Air Greenland plane. We were all tired and upset with this information, but we made the best out of the wait, getting to know each other. Unfortunately as 2pm came around, they continued to push the time back further and further. Finally at 4pm they announced that they were canceling the flight. We ... read more

The guide book said “this is why you have spent all that money to come to Greenland” and they were right. Ilulissat was magnificent. We arrived in Ilulissat (300 kms north of the Arctic Circle) on Monday 25th (Michelle's Birthday.) We celebrated with some Musk-ox for dinner followed by a “Greenlandic Coffee” - coffee with whiskey, Kahlua & Grand Marnier, topped with cream and set alight. Very Nice. Our first day we opted for the boat tour to the icefjord, the sky was grey , the wind was cold but the sights were amazing. Icebergs towering 50-100 metres out of the water. That afternoon the boys were desperate to collect some pieces of icebergs so we wandered to the shore where small pieces had drifted in close enough for them to pick up. Jake put a ... read more

Above Greenland. This plane is taking quite a detour going all the way over Iceland and Greenland and then following the american west coast down to Miami. Me and James we just continue knocking down the free beer courtesy of Martin Air and taking the piss out of each other. "Hey James look man, down there is Greenland". "I can actuaslly see a white polar bear down there running across the snow". Half the plane hurries to these stupid small plane windows pushing each other out of the way to see this non-existent polar bear while James stays in his seat and says with a loud voice "ha ha, you can actually see a white polar bear at ten thousant meters up here on white snow, good joke Hans!!!" Half the plane returns to their ... read more
