Our first port call in Greenland was Nuuk, the capital. Formerly named Godthåb, the city is the largest town in Greenland with a population of about 18,000. Nuuk is also the world's northernmost capital city, just below the Arctic Circle. The city is spread out and the landscape quite austere looking. M/S Naja Arctica at Nuuk harbour. Container ship launched in 1994, 11,612 gt. Operated by Royal Arctic Line. Royal Arctic Line, founded in 1993 by the government of Greenland, is a successor to the Royal Greenland Trading Department. The ships bring food and consumer goods to Greenland from Denmark.
