So here's the plan. Whale watching... what could be wrong with that? No flaws so far... It’s decided. Today -finally- we're going to Vancouver Island and from there go Grey Whale watching off the islands in a zodiac which yeah, sounded great. But here’s the catch, I'm terrified of being in the sea on a boat out of I'm sight of land, and of fish... what a time to find out, when your on a zodiac out of sight of land, surrounded by whopping great big fish, otherwise known as whales. I'd say the timing was nothing short of fantastic wouldn’t you? And yes, I am perfectly aware that whales are not fish and they are in fact mammals, part of the Cetacean family, with their scientific name being Eschrichtius robustus(which I still cant pronounce) so ... read more

The wind tugs my hair out from under my hat and whips it with a snap across my face. The wind is arctic, condensing my breath into tiny ice crystals which cling to my eyelashes like icicles hanging off the eaves of a cottage, also inconveniently making my nose do an instant Rudolf impression, lighting up like a light bulb. Welcome to Canada After going through the usual palaver of the airports such as ambushing your bag on the conveyor belt and being jostled by others who are also trying to waylay their luggage as it disappears down the conveyer belt, and then the fun of the terminal...being lost and disorientated trying to find the exit, trying to find where the hire cars stalls are so that we can get the keys AND trying to find ... read more

ENTRY 50 — March 4th, 2002 PEACHLAND YOUTH MINISTRY A Youth Fellowship member mentioned to me that the local wing of AMOR Ministries was planning an excursion to Tecate, Mexico. The purpose: to build houses. AMOR was in need of chaplains. This was an ecumenical project involving all the churches of the Okanagan Valley. The Peachland group was to be led by Dave Roy, and I was to be the chaplain. There would be twelve teens in the group. Our assignment was to build a house for a man named Gilberto and his family. It was to take us seven days. The Problem - Scott and Linda Pastor Kevin from the Community Church looked worn. His phone had been ringing off the hook. Dec 11, 2001 Hi everyone, this is my last official e-mail about the trip. I thought I would let everyone know that I finished uploading and sorting through the last of my online pictures. I added the last pictures form Nepal and cleaned them up some. I reorganized them into albums for each place I went.
