HAPPY CANADA DAY eh! 🇨🇦
We got here to Whitehorse, YT yesterday (Friday) early afternoon and good thing we did as we couldn't find a campsite. They were all booked with CARAVANS!!!! 😁😁😁 We were told that the Walmart was very accommodating and would let us stay there as long as we wanted. (Oh joy! Sic) So that's where we headed. Now keep in mind it was only 1:30, as we rounded the corner and got a view of the Walmart, we saw a sea of RV's already in the parking lot! I felt my anxiety level go up and sweat start to accumulate under my arms. This was not looking good. How in the heck were we going to maneuver that parking lot, let alone find a place to park. Luckily Don remained calm since I clearly was not and he made his way to an open field area where we could at least unhook the truck so that I could drive around and find us a spot to park the coach. Perfect. Luckily as he was turning the coach around I found a perfect spot that was right as he came out of the field and was along
the curb for us to stay. Super easy and I could relax and stop sweating. 😂😂 We were now settled in and I could go do some retail therapy in the Walmart to make myself feel better. Desperate I know but there aren't many choices.
We went to the visitor center and grab the usual "best things to see while your in town " info. We then headed to the fish ladder which wasn't really much to see because the salmon aren't here yet. We found a pretty good Mexican restaurant for dinner. It's the first and only one that we have seen in Canada. I don't think they like that type of food much. There aren't even any Taco Bells. After this it was getting late and we were tired so we decided to call it a day.
It was very quiet in the Walmart RV Park last night. Someone we talked to said they counted 75 RV's. I took a picture this morning and that was after some had left. It is the craziest thing I have ever experienced. Some left but more are coming in today. The weather has turned windy,
This guy is parked in front of us. He is quite the attraction. Everyone is coming by and taking their picture in front of his rig. He has been all over the world in this thing. He and his wife live in it. There are a few of them in the Walmart RV lot. Don & I are thinking maybe this should be our next bucket list adventure. 😂😂😂
cold and rainy. We are staying one more night since today is a holiday. Canada Day is their 4th of July. We didn't think it would be a good day to travel. Figured we wouldn't we be able to find any place to stay so we might as well stay in this fine establishment since it is at least safe. Oh, I forgot to mention that there is a Starbucks right across the driveway from us so I am going to walk over and use their internet. Guess you could say this park has free wifi. 😀
We will be heading out in the morning. Not sure how far we are going but the Alaska border is within 300 miles so we should be there in the next few days Lord willing. We heard the road from here to the border is the roughest. We will see. Happy trails! 😎😍
