Day 6 – Dawson City Today started out with a tour in the morning, of Dawson City, the Gold fields and Robert Service’s cabin. It is a start contrast when the clear Klondike river joins the Yukon.

The Yukon starts out clear, but is joined by glacier fed rivers, which contain a lot of silt, and causes it to be murky. The Klondike comes in clear, and the contrast is unbelievable.

You can see the valley going South, away from you where gold was found. You can see the tailings as a result of the dredging in the picture on the ground at the foot of the hill I am on. You zoom in on them and they will look like sausage patties cut and arranged on a plate. A huge scar from the goldrush days.

Looking South up them Yukon. You can see Dawson City and the Klondike merging in with the Yukon. A big contrast.
