Indian Head, Sask.
Funny enough, this is the main attraction in the grand city of Indian Head, Saskatchewan. Hello gang. We are over-nighting in Swift Current, SK. We discovered the hard way that driving West after 7:30 pm in the Prairies is not good for your health. It causes too much stress, eye strain and semi-permanent white knuckles for the driver!!!
We ventured from Brandon to Regina on Tuesday, only four hours on the road, a short day! We spent time in White City with Teresa, Les and the kids before heading to Kronau to visit with Kathy and Dale. The shortest route from White City to Kronau is to travel on grid roads between sections, directly south and then a quick jaunt west to Kathy and Dale's Elk Farm. In english that means, take the fourth gravel road south in between a couple of farms and hope you don't meet anybody going in the opposite direction! The little jaunt west to Kronau was longer than expected because we didn't take the right grid road, not really our fault though since the signs that were promised to be there were gone and somehow GPS does not recogize the SK Grid road system. That is why we had the unpleasant drive into the sun. Definitely going to try to
Brenda's newest friend..
This is Kathy and Dale's tamest elk Sophie. No, Brenda is not bringing her home. avoid that from now on.
This morning, we thought we couldn't be on the Prairies and in Saskatchewan without at least trying to find Dog River. A fictional town of course from 'Corner Gas', which films in Rouleau SK. It wasn't hard to find Rouleau at all, and since they are currently filming in Regina, we were able to get up close and check things out properly.
On our way to Swift Current we stopped for a short while in Moose Jaw to check out the tunnel tours. They claim Al Capone was really there a long long time ago. Based on their performance, we're believers.
Off to Calgary in the morning, and hopefully we'll make it to the base of the Rockies! Stay Tuned....

Those are great pictures! I liked the monument of the Indian head outside the big city of Indian Head, too. Take it from me though, you really don't want to see the monument outside Indian Butt, on the other end of the province. Loved the pictures of Dog River, how cool is that. Does Rouleau get a lot of tourists, I wonder? Drive safe, I look forward to more entries!
